Finally managed to get onto an assessment in 3 weeks time!!

Hey guys, I've been invited to Maidstone to attend a briefing next week for the PC application I am progressing through. Anybody been to one before and can shed any light on what exactly it is and what the dress code may be? Cheers! Jim

Just a few quickies. So, I just passed all my medicals and bits and bobs and seem to be on my way to beginning my training for the October intake of Specials for Kent Constabulary. In a sense, I was unlucky as I applied for Kent just before recruitment opened (about a month before), as a Special, and always wanted to become a PC. I'm here to ask if anyone from Kent Constabulary particularly, or any other really that has gone the SPC>PC route, and how it works? Is it simply a transfer in name and then beginning getting paid? Or do you have to wait for recruitment to open? I've heard from a friend in the Met that he spoke to his Sergeant after getting IPS and was put …

Hey guys, Right, I'm an applicant for the Kent Specials Constabulary and have successfully passed all vetting and interview stages. I have to go back to my recruitment centre tomorrow for fitness and health checks, and am unsure what to wear. Should I wear a shirt, tie and trousers like I did for my interview and bring a bag for fitness-wear? That seems the best option regardless of the fact it's 30 degrees around here. Thanks!

So I've started the application for the Police Constable role for Kent Police, and one of the eligibilties is to have 2 A Levels. Since I am waiting for my results for my A Levels, does that mean I cannot apply since I do not yet hold the qualifications? I know the applicantion will take a while, but would they give leeway or not? Thanks

Got my confirmation through today, file signed off and I am booked onto the May intake, anyone else here on it?

Is Kent police general busy or not? What are the benefits of joining them? Im currently Special elsewhere but live in Kent and just wanted to know this info.

So I know that the Met has this as a requirement prior to joining... my question is this: is it likely to have any influence on, or advantage in, Kent?

*posted for a friend who doesn't have an account on here My friend submitted his last expenses - then resigned as a SC he has received more than he should have done. He has heard it's either -1 back dated duty allowance as he's now finished -2 tax rebate -3 or possibly a system error, has anyone else had an overpayment this month? This has happened to him and one other person with the same circumstances, Help appreciated!

The vetting team have my paperwork, they emailed me to ask what London borough I was born in (apparently this is needed for one of the checks). Just happy that there is movement on my vetting at last, only taken 2 months to get to this stage.

Right, so all going to plan tonight after my home visit, I should be starting in May (or July at the latest). I have heard that Kent Police supply their regulars with patrol boots/footwear. Does anyone know if this is true or if it's scurrilous rumours? If they do supply, anyone know what the footwear supplied is? Otherwise it looks like I am off to find myself some Magnums or Lowa's.
