As it seems a whole load of new topics tend to be started which relate to the training process within Herts Constabulary I thought it would be a good idea to have a dedicated topic for it. From now on all discussions and questions related to the training process should be posted into this topic, I will merge other discussions into this one for ease of reading.

Dear neighbours (in the sense that I'm from the MPS, and you're next door)! You may have noticed on the General Discussion page a posting for the ps.com supported Special Constabulary Wiki. Yesterday, I received a call from somebody in HR to say they are cancelling the July intake! They have given me possible dates for September, October and December. I can make the week-long, but not all of the subsequent training weekends. I rang them last week and asked if it was still a-go-go for July, the lady said yes. So based on that, I have paid over £1000 for something that takes place alternate weekends from mid October to February. Rather annoying, these are when the training weekends are for all intakes before Christmas. Chaps and Chapessess Don't know if anyone else has noticed but we either need to stump up some cash or lose the lockup. So what is the consensus of opinion, also probably worth bearing in mind that Legend who stumped up for it last time is now with BTP and Paradox has moved onto pastures new. So do we: 1. Can anybody tell me if my eyesight test has passed? I don't really understand the values/results of the test; Requirements; Distance 6/12 or better with either right or left eye 6/6 with both eyes If with lenses/spectacles - 6/36 without lenses/spectacles Near vision needs to be N6 both eyes together (aided) Actual Results of eyesight test; Unaided Right Eye 6/7.5 Aided Right Eye 6/5 Unaided Left Eye 6/7.5 Aided Left Eye 6/5 Binocular Unaided 6/6+ Binocular Aided 6/4 Near Vision tested at 40cms N/5 Thank you very much (in advance) huffhuff .

Hello all, I passed my fitness test on the 2nd April, and will be starting my training on the 12th of May. Recruitment have told me that the week of training (12th - 20th May) will be pretty much 9 - 5, and as I am a fair distance from Six Hills/ WGC I will probably stay up in the area for the week. I just wondered if anyone else has done similar, and/or can any one recommend any good places to stay that sit between the two main sites or nearby? Not too expensive would be nice too! Thanks

Hi Guys, I'm new to the forum, I recently passed my PIRT and Medical so if the fitness test goes well then I start training in June. I just wanted some advice on choosing where to serve. I originally chose Hertford, I know the town quite well and it isn't too far from where I live (Harlow). However I drive that way regularly for University and work, and I'm starting to find the journey quite monotonous. I am now considering changing to Bishop's Stortford if possible. It would be more convenient as there is also a regular bus and train service, so if I didn't fancy driving then I have other options. I also know the area quite well. I am currently studying public services as well and hope to join Stevenage Police when I am of age, but for now I can only do work experience and Police Cadets. Hi everyone, I thank you in advance for any replies you may give to this question. I have been revising madly for my SC Assessment Centre Day 1 tomorrow and I am not feeling, finally, a little bit more confident (got two examples for each competency, been practicing my report writing for the Written exercise and been doing some examples of the verbal reasoning) However, one thing still bugs me...Most of the times that I practice my Written exercise my suggestions for resolving the problem are completely different to the suggested resolutions in the book. I have my Special Constables Assessment Centre next Saturday at Six Hills and I am nervous already...Mainly about the Interview and Written Exercise.
