Hello all, Looks like I might be transferring from TVP to my local force (also considering Met as I work there), and just wondering what the lay of the land is. I was on a foundation degree/entry scheme, so was trained to probationary (regular) PC level, and worked on response in Oxford, as part of a specific shift and just crewed with a regular, though could have done stuff on my own but for lack of driving ticket. A couple of specific questions, do/can Herts specials work response or are they limited to Neighbourhood? Also, do they work independently of shift, or can they jump in with regular shift callsigns as per my TVP experience? I'd hope to be working stevenag…

Anybody able to tell which stations in Hertfordshire have specialist DC departments stationed there? (CID, child abuse, domestic abuse, major crime units etc)

Morning all, Brand new here and I have my assessment day for the Specials this coming Saturday. Really rather nervous and I apologise if there are more topics similar to this floating about on here but I'd appreciate any advise people have! Sorted what paperwork/ID I need to take, travel etc. Anybody know about dress code? I'm assuming as it's initially for a uniformed position that 'smart' is best? Very nervous about what to expect on the day, any advise or reassurance would be much appreciated! Thank you, Jo

Hello everyone, I'm currently a serving regular officer with TVP and have applied to transfer to Herts. I've been offered Hatfield and was just wondering if anyone who works there could give me an insight into what it's like? I know you cover Hatfield and WGC from there which sounds like a good area to work, I was just wondering if you carry your own crimes there, and if so, how many each officer has at one time, on average? Is it a busy area? Finally, how is morale? Thanks very much in advance

Hello all, I am looking at transferring to Hertfordshire and want to find out more about what the area is like to police. I am currently a Special in TVP so experienced in the job but due to relocation I am considering transferring. The areas nearest to me are Hemel Hempstead, Watford and St Albans and obviously the smaller places like Tring, Berkhamstead etc. I don't know much about the area to be honest so I'm keen to find out more about what these places are like to work in, and do they base people at the smaller stations or is more likely to be the bigger stations? Many thanks

Hi everyone, I have my appointment in the morning for my warrant card to be made (I'm a new starter). I'm just confused about what to wear as I haven't got my uniform yet, I haven't got my fitting until the end of the week. I would have thought you should have your photo taken with your uniform on? Any ideas? Thanks, Samantha ?

Hi All, I'm not sure if i can post this on here because i'm not an offical 'Police Officer'... I've recently been given the go ahead for a job in the force control room. I start on 7th July 2014. I have handed all my forms back etc. Just wanting a little bit of advise on what to expect? I saw an application for the Sports and Social group, what does this involve? Also, i had to make an appointment to get my warrant card, is this just a photo ID card? I've had a quick walk through the control room when i had my interview, but if anyone can give me and tips or useful information i would be grateful! Thank You!! Samantha :new_yummy:
