Hertfordshire Constabulary

Hi all. I have a few questions regarding the application. Firstly it asks for current job / employer as a reference. As I am currently unemployed due to being made redundant in November I can't really put a current employer. Should I put my former company down or a previous college tutor? And secondly, how long from sending off the application does it take for you to hear anything, or do you have to wait until the closing date (current one is march)? Thanks very much

Hey Can someone please clarify to me the training types offered, obviously providing the stages are all passed? I am sure on my application I asked for the 2 weeks then Sunday for however many weeks, yet I keep reading about Saturday training. Am I being really blind and have completely mis read it back in November, or is this offered? Thanks!

After a disappointing (I failed the interview) but enlightening (I know exactly what I did wrong and how to fix it) experience with Bedfordshire's day 1 assessment I am currently in the process of applying to Hertfordshire! I've managed to fill in most of the application form (the competency questions are different from the last time I filled in a Hertfordshire one about a year ago), stumped on the good old - "Please give an example of when you have had to compromise your opinions when working with others to achieve a result that was acceptable to all." question... Evening guys and girls. I have finally submitted my application, I have read it about 5 times, my mrs has read it and my mum so hopefully between us we have spotted most spelling mistakes! Now the worrying begins! Do they only check the forms once the closing date is reached?

Hi guys, Immensely enjoying my training so far but I'm quite worried about the end of week exam. We've been given the big white lever arch & told to do the Human Rights booklet as homework & that's fine but there's soo much to take in on that & I'm worried now that I wont be able to correctly recall all the articles from the act! I know it's essential for us as officers to know the human rights act but I'm just scared that it all wont stay inside my brain come exam time! help!!! :new_no:

Hi guys, forgive my ignorance and I did try to search this topic but nothing came up. My question is why are some forces called 'Constabulary' and some 'Police'? Eg. Hertfordshire Constabulary and Metropolitan Police. Can't be a size thing as Leicester is a whole city and they still call themselves Leicestershire Constabulary. And is one seen as 'better' in any way? as I don't know but to me 'Constabulary' doesn't sound as good as 'Police'.

Hi all, First time poster, I'd just like to say that this is an excellent forum with so much info! so I'm from north london and applied for herts in may. I've passed all the necessary stages and had my uniform done & start training on saturday 13th october (a weeks time!) I CAN'T WAIT! been waiting my whole life for this!!! Anybody else here starting on sat?

8 barristers and 4 hours later I emerged from the toughest grilling at court yet, rather glad I wrote out full the use of force legislative powers used in full - handy to refer to when on the spot! Has anyone else had any good or bad experiences at court lately?

Hi Herts Police Folks, As I'm sure some of you might be aware of the impending shake up over the border in the Met. The upshot of this will no doubt be people looking for alternatives outside the borders of the Met. As I'm sure you'll get asked about transfers, and I'm going to pose the same question in other bordering force areas. What are the requirements for transfer for both IPS and non IPS officers? Many of the higher skilled officers will no doubt look to bring some of their qualifications with them. Would Level 3 driving, Level 2 public order or Search be something which could be carried over?
