I just got phoned by an OHU nurse after i emailed recruitment saying how much weight i have lost. I have apparently been taken off hold and been given an appointment for my medical on april 14th (2 days after my birthday lol ) in total i have lost (so far) 8.5kgs which is 18.7lbs :-) got my BMI down from 33 to 30.5 and can still lose some more weight before april

A question to all specials.... How long did your vetting take? dont forget to state your force. im just curious about how quick or slow some peoples vetting has taken. also im wondering how long herts specials saw the herts police careers website say "pre employment checks" lol

Can Specials drive police cars after a certain amount of time in the force or are they only limited to the passenger seat?

Ok, now I am fully in the process ( maybe jumping the gun a bit though)......after reading a thread elsewhere I was wondering how you get onto shifts in Herts. Logically if you just turn up out of the blue, there's probably little chance of getting out as you are not expected. What is the procedure? I assume it would be the same throughout the county! Also a few questions for some people that have already done it... - What can I expect on the fitness test? I know it's a bleep test and push/pull test but how hard is it? - The minimum amount you have to push/pull is 35KGS whats that like? Is it hard, and how is it done, I understand you have to sit on something that looks like a rowing machine? - Do you push the bar when your facing it and then face away from the bar and pull it from behind with your arms behind you?? Ok Getting close now and really need to think about my options on where to be based. I have been thinking about the following ( in no particular order) Stevenage St Albans Hemel Hempstead Watford Letchworth All seem ok to me, distance wise etc, but what about the dreaded "P" word. hi all, My name is Tim, im an ex special from the early 90's. Was based out of Dacorum division (Hemel Hempstead). left the force just as side handled batons and the bridging gadget to turn cuffs into quick cuffs were coming into play, glad to say my cuffs never got changed, still in the leather pouch. Plus when you could patrol in just a shirt and tie, yes no body armer back then...lol. I did however stay long enough to be issued a helmet, the government crumbled on that lol. hope to talk to more of you real soon. yours, Tim Oliver. I was wondering a few things: -Firstly does anyone know the quickest and cheapest way to get from borehamwood to stevenage. -secondly is there a system in place to reimburse for the travelling to the training days? -and finally is the first crammer week 9-5 training or do the times differ? hope you lot can help!
