Question I have here, I'm currently in vetting for the Specials, however I've also applied for a civilian role within Winch HQ. If I was to be offered the job at HQ, would I still be able to continue as a Special (Subject to vetting). Pretty sure the answer is yes, but just to be sure.

Hey guys, A few of you may remember that I was pulled in by PSD for an interview regarding a picture on Facebook of myself in a stab vest (Which didn't show any force logo, ID or anything). Well, before that I had passed all of my tests and all that with very good results and had been on attachment a few times with RPU allowing myself to get known by a few Officers. However, Recruitment had made their final decision when the PSD Officer submitted a report, from which he told another Officer who was involved (As he owned the vest) he would recommend I do not become a Special, due to the fact I am "Too Keen". How that's a bad thing I don't know. Well, yes, I'm very very …

Hi all As I understand it, on passing the assessment centre and JRFT, u are then required to send off your vetting forms. The training then involves a gateway cd, followed by gateway modules completed on average over 6 months. Couple of questions, can you begin the cd whilst waiting for the vetting to come back? The modules, what is offered to you in terms of completing this in the quickest format? I saw a thread on here which suggested it could be done over a continuous month at netley, is this true? Can you do some weekends, some mid weeks etc etc? Thanks all

Dear all, Apologies if this has been covered in a previous post. I am in the process of applying to become a Special Constable with Hampshire Constabulary, I have passed the Assesment centre the JRFT and have filled in Vetting and my Medical forms and am now ready to send them off. I went for an eye test to which the Force requires you to and the Optician stated that I was unable to see unaided, and has written CF on my details for un aided vision. I wonder if this will be of detriment once I send this off to the Occupational Health Department. I am under the impression that the force has a minimum requirement for un-aided vision if this is the case, I believe th…

Morning Folks, I was wondering if anyone could tell me what the make of the current Hampshire trousers are? The company Kent were using have gone into liquidation and are now using the same supplier as Hampshire. I have recently attested and been given the old style but they are way too big in waist and length so am looking to get my own pair of the new ones rather than wait until the uniform situation has been sorted... which could be a while apparently. Before anyone says "you shouldn't buy your own, go to stores" stores don't have any and aren't looking to get any in until the end of April. Thanks for your help Rach

Not sure if this has already been covered in another thread but here goes..... I'm at the end of my Gateway training; got my exam on Monday! It recently occurred to me that we haven't covered drug related offences. I mean we cover drink/drug drive but no offences under Misuse of Drugs Act? Do Specials not deal with these offences or does this training come later in the Foundation stage?

I was reading the last edition of frontline, and the Chief mentioned this: I must admit, although I enjoy being a Special, I'm still undecided whether I would want to be a PC. One of the things that puts me off is the inevitable pay cut that I would have to take. When I was looking at graduate program jobs, I wasn't really considering anything below £25k basic, so I think it might be difficult to interest good graduates when you look at the basic pay for a PC. I'll be honest, with the progression of pay in the Police, most good graduates would struggle to find a reason to go into the Police without being promoted to Inspector rather quickly, which isn't necessarily …

Forgive me if this has been posted before, I have tried to search for it but my search prooved fruitless. I am in the process of completing my reference forms and Medical questionaire and was wondering have people recieved these documents in an e-mail and printed them out or as the documents are able to be edited, filled them out on the computer, then printed them off with the detail fields completed? Just curious. Regards

Firstly for those that are interested there are some vacancies on the Hampshire Police for experienced PCs and DCs. Closing date is 18th May. http://www.hampshire.police.uk/Internet/jobs/transferees/index.htm Secondly for anyone with knowledge of the force, what's it like to work for, etc? I quite fancy coming down from Manchester and living and working in the area as i am originally from Winchester and all of my relatives live in that area and nearby counties.

Dear All, I have been scooting around on these forums for quite some time now, attempting to absorb as much information I can before I attend my assesment day on Tuesday 27th March. The nerves are starting to kick in a little bit now as the day draws near. I went for a ride along on Friday night in Fareham. this was arranged at short notice and I really wanted to get this in before I had my assesment day, to give me some insight what a real eye opener the whole experiance was. I was told that it was a pretty quiet night, but I enjoyed it none the less. It did reaffirm my desire to join the Force which I am pleased about. I know there is still alot about the role I st…
