Hi all (or anybody left out there) I have now had an email from HR confirming that the Police, Law and Community course will now be the required Pre-joining criteria. luckily for me i dont have to pay to do the course (due to being at the end of the recruitment process) however it seems that the course would have set me back £1200+ at a HE college. is there anyone else in the same position as me? i have an induction day for the course coming up soon.

I recieved this email today. Anybody else get it? Dear S'west Re: Application to become a Police Officer Further to the recent government spending cuts in the public sector, it has been decided that Police Officer recruitment in Hampshire will be reduced to a minimum. This means that we do not expect to have any more intakes this financial year. I would like to confirm that at this moment in time your application will continue to be on hold at the stage it is at now. We would like to apologise for the delay in progressing your application and will send you a more comprehensive update over the next few weeks. Best wishes, yours sincerely Police Officer Recruitm…

Hello, my application to join the specials started on January 9th this year. i passed my assessment and failed my first fitness. I then went on to pass my second fitness and have been waiting ever since to actually start training. I recently received the pre module pack with four work books and the disc which i promptly completed and sent back. Does anyone know how much longer i need to wait to actually receive an induction date? (PS, I hope i have now posted this in the right place!)

I was cycling through the city centre in Southampton today and I saw two PCSOs walking along Western Esplanade outside the Central Train Station. They were both wearing the new stab vests but one had only "POLICE" written on the back. I tried to see what was written on the front but I couldn't make it out. I might have taken a picture if I had had my phone with me and I would have asked him but I think they were responding to a call/ looking for someone because they were walking quickly and met up with constables on the other side of the train station. I am sure that he was a PCSO because I recognised the Hampshire Constabulary uniform of royal blue shirt and cap band, a…

Hi All I have only recently joined this forum, and its good to see the differing threads. For those of you that have just received your call ups for the July induction day..well done.. and enjoy!! For those that are still waiting for call ups.. hang on in there, it will be worth the wait!! As for me, I attended the 18th June induction day, and have enrolled on the first available workshop dates for workshops 1 to 10. I do not know who else from the 18th June induction, or indeed if anyone from an earlier induction day, has enrolled on the same workshop dates as me, ( workshop 1 and 2 on Sat 9 th July, and workshop 3 and 4 on Sun 10th July ).... but if anyone has, I won…

A HAMPSHIRE police officer whose leg was amputated has launched a major legal bid against a hospital which failed to treat him properly, a legal document claims. PC Miles Wilson broke his right leg in two places as he tripped and fell while responding to an emergency call. But five days after being admitted to Southampton General Hospital, surgeons amputated his leg above the knee when they found the blood supply had been cut off and tissues were dead. The officer has launched a claim for at least £300,000 damages, blaming negligence by hospital chiefs. PC Wilson slipped on a low fence as he got out of a police car responding to an emergency call outside Southampton …

http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/news/law-and-order/bright_idea_helps_cut_down_crime_on_guildhall_walk_1_2816012 Crime on Guildhall Walk has fallen by almost a third thanks in part to new street lighting which has made the area brighter. Between October 2010 and March 2011, the total number of crimes committed between 9pm and 5am on the street was 237, compared to 338 in the same period last year. And Portsmouth City Council believes improved street lighting, which it installed immediately before the recorded drop in incidents, has contributed to the improvement. The lighting was part of a raft of measures designed to help cut down crime in the area, which is packed with p…

I know this may be a random one, but I have been emailing the relevant people regarding the ESP program for my work. I work in a call centre, and a colleague of mine (SC not call centre colleague) has said it wouldn't be likely because it only works for places like your shops and things that can equally use your skills? Could anyone tell me if this is true or not? Like i say my office is getting in touch with the relevant people but still I'd really like to know.

Hi everyone I, like others on the forum, have been given our long-awaited email to invite us to an induction for Specials training! We'll be getting our workbooks and details of further training and foundation training dates which I'm really looking forward to. I appreciate at this stage we're still only on the induction and have not been officially accepted into the force, however, I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their information, help and support they have provided since I've been a member of the forum. Reading through threads, seeing others' input into different topics and answering my questions has really helped me gain knowledge about t…

Hi there, I live on the Isle of Wight, and I am presently filling out my Special Constable Application form. In Section 1 it asks: "Which station do you wish to apply for?" Now my nearest Station is Ventnor, however according to Appendix C of the Estate Review, Ventnor is marked for Disposal. Now any action may well be some time off. However for the purposes of my Application, should I still list Ventnor, or would requesting Newport be OK? To be honest, I'm not terribly picky as to which Station I am assigned to, so long as I can get hours, nowhere on the Island is far to drive. But do Constabulary's prefer to deploy Specials to their nearest local station or can we…

Hi, I got a letter this morning asking me to attend a Vetting Interview in Winchester as part of the police pre employment checks as they require me to attend a Vetting Subject interview before my application can progress. Apparently the interview will seek to clarify information obtained from the Vetting process and as such will cover my personal circumstances! I have no idea what they require - I phoned to confirm the appointment as was was told it was nothing to worry about - but no one else seems to have had an interview - so now I am slightly worried. Has anyone else had to attend such a thing? Thanks Nikki
