Just wondering whether you could defer taking up training if there were personal circumstances in your life that would make training (and giving time generally) hard for say 6 months? Obviously not something that anyone would want to do through choice, but just wondering if anyone had, or had heard of someone who had?!

Been reading the forum for a while, but never actually signed up until now, after failing my interview stage the first time around, a year or so on from when i first sent off my application i am now well on my way into hopefully becoming a special. Just done my set of 10 pre-emplyment modules(good 30pages from notebook now scribbled with human rights act and so forth) can't wait to find out how much work is involved once i actually start my training lol. Well anyways alot of advice and stuff i have read of this forum has helped, so i guess this is just a quick thanks. Alot of you guys(and girls) help us newbies when we first start our application. Was also wondering if an…

Hi I am looking for local collectors / clubs of vintage or older emergency vehicles. I am looking fo the sort that were at Familys Day last year - does anyone know who they were? The reason I ask is that I am organising a funday and would like as many vehciles and different emergency services there as possible. Thanks Sam

Myself and a few other specials are doing a push bike course at our nick that I have arranged with on of the regulars. In terms of kit are stores issuing it at present considering money is tight? If so, do they only issue it once the course is passed or ready for the course? Just thinking that if they don't I need to start to beg and borrow from people at the nick.

I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas about when the next recruitment drive is going to happen? Also does anyone know if a fast track scheme for specials is being developed as I did hear not so long ago that this was the case.

Right, passed the medical the other week, so assuming that all the security clearances and vetting is ok I should be going for uniform fitting and training next, right? My other question; I'm not planning on serving locally, but is it normal/customary/frowned upon/fill in this space to notify your local station that you are an SC, in case they ever need help?

http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/news/law-and-order/police_find_stun_gun_in_convicted_robber_s_portsmouth_home_1_2500922 Police found a stun gun when they searched a convicted robber’s bedroom. Officers went Charlie Jenkins’ home in Oriel Road, Portsmouth, looking for another man in connection with a separate offence. They found the weapon hidden on top of a cupboard in Jenkins’ room during the search. The 22-year-old has now been ordered to do 100 hours of community service for having the weapon. Jenkins told police his father had bought the stun gun in Thailand and he did not know how it worked or that it was illegal. Portsmouth Crown Court heard Jenkins had been…

So who else has passed over the last few days as I believe there was a fitness day on Monday aswell? Now have the pile of forms to wade through!

So im sat here with piles and piles of uni work i could be doing, but im sat waiting instead and wishing i could start my training some day soon! I past my Fitness Feb 14th but only got my medical forms back from the doctors last Wednesday and sent it all of Thursday. So now im playing the waiting game! Hoping ill be able to do some stuff over the Summer but i guess ill have to wait and see how long this vetting takes! Who else is waiting at the moment?

Hi all I know many do have medical and occ health appointments but does everyone have one in the recruitment process? I thought that maybe if the doc's and optician's forms have been signed off okay we wouldn't need one, and would only have one if there was something questionable on the doc's forms?! Thanks Sam

Congratulations to all of class 710 on passing weekend 7 today! Attestation on the 30th March.... See you all there. Marc (the mole lol!)

There was an update on the progress of the new SC on the intranet yesterday and it has been offically handed over to the Constabulary. From looking at the two photos on the front page of the SC area, I have to say I am very jealous! The plans for each level of the building show it to be fully kitted out for everyone - It even has a TPT Specials area! Custody also looks superb with its layout and space. I look forward to visiting it if I can in the future once it is fully opened! (Fingers crossed custody will be a lot better than what it can be at the moment!)

Congratulations to our specials at JH/JW on winning team of the year. Well done guys and girls :D
