http://www.portsmout...olice_1_2391091 Burglaries plummeted during the recent cold snap as arctic conditions kept thieves indoors. Snow, freezing temperatures and treacherous conditions contributed to a huge drop in house burglaries committed in December. Police received reports of 64 homes being broken into in Portsmouth in the period down 30 per cent from the 92 reported in December 2009. In total the number of burglaries reported in December has more than halved in the last two years from the 166 reported in December 2008. Figures for the central policing area covering Fareham, Gosport, Havant and Winchester have not yet been finalised. However they are also ex…

I live not far from Netley, and twice now around the area I've seen a fully marked Hampshire Vauxhall Astra with Uniformed Officers driving it. Unfortunately I've not managed to get a picture as every time I see it, I'm driving! Is this a trial car, or are what? I really like it to be honest, would be a great substitute for the Panda cars to be honest!

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-hampshire-11828311 Hampshire police is to borrow £1.5m to fund a new gadget designed to give officers access to their computers while on the move. The police authority approved the purchase of 159 mobile data terminals to be fitted to patrol vehicles. The force said they will save £2.1m per year with officers spending more time on patrol rather than the station. Southampton MP Alan Whitehead said "savage" government cuts were forcing police "to do more with less". Hampshire police has already announced plans to cut 1,400 jobs in order to reduce its budget by £70m as well as sharing resources with Thames Valley Police. The new …

I've noticed of late, the camera has been removed from the transit in my locality and they are quite often being used by PCSO's. Have the CCTV Fords come to an end?

http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/news/law-and-order/home_office_stats_name_tiny_street_as_crime_hot_spot_1_2367143 A HOME OFFICE map that suggests a quiet street in Portsmouth is the city’s crime hot spot – and among the country’s worst areas – has been condemned as being a ‘gigantic blunder’. Cllr Eleanor Scott Portsmouth City Council has launched a furious attack on the new interactive tool the government says will allow people to see ‘what crime and antisocial behaviour has happened in their streets’ after Surrey Street was ranked as one of the 10 worst streets in the country. Surrey Street, which sits off Commercial Road and is home to a block of flats,…

The conference is a collaborative event between the Criminology Department at Southampton Solent University and The Hampshire Constabulary History Society, and is taking place to celebrate and promote the Hampshire Constabulary History Society Archive as well as associated police archives in Hampshire. Most of the archive is based at the Hampshire Record Office in Winchester.…

Hi, just a quick question. Was thinking today after reading some of the driving related threads on here, i havent found a full answer to my question. Which is.... As a special in Hampshire i know we can drive A-B+ patrolling, but if we see a person say driving while using a mobile phone, are we not allowed to stop this person and give them the fine they deserve? Thank you.

Evening All, I seem to remember when I went on my first observation shift that one of the serving specials said that you could claim mileage back for your travel expenses. Question is, one is this correct? Secondly how much can you claim per mile (if this is how it works) Chris

Hello all, Am just wondering if anyone has any thoughts on the joint working that looks like its going to happen with TVP and Hampshire, especially with the RPU teams becoming one unit covering both forces. What will it mean for any Specials attached to the RPU?
