Thought I'd bring this to everyone's attention: http://www.policespecials.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=118006&st=0&gopid=2021319

Hi all Sorry, this isn't very topic-worthy but I thought I'd share anyway! Just had a call from OccHealth, vetting all done and got a medical for 26th April which is only a couple of weeks. How long should it be until I get a uniform fitting and/or start date? I'm being patient, just it feels it's all starting to fall into place and move along at last! Thanks Sam

http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/news/local/east-hampshire/scheme_to_tackle_low_level_crime_to_grow_say_police_1_2750120 Police hope that a new scheme to punish criminals without putting them through courts will be expanded. The new system of ‘community resolutions’ was only introduced in Hampshire at the start of April, but senior officers are already confident the scheme is proving to be well received by the public. Under the scheme, people who have committed low level crimes such as criminal damage or shoplifting can admit their crime and be dealt with more quickly. It would typically mean saying sorry to their victim and possibly paying for any damage or returning…

Had an email from recruitment today. Basically they are cancelling all applicants in the process, and any future intakes will be from specials/police staff. Really great for those of us who cannot be a special due to current work commitments.

With Southampton / Pompey / Brighton and possibly Bournemouth all in the same league next season, do you think specials and football duties may make a come back? I can imagine on these days resources are stretched. Obviously not MAST trained but surely we could help out somehow. *Obviously saints will win all the games

http://www.portsmout...views_1_2712898 Portsmouth's new top policeman is backing calls for a review of late-night drinking in a bid to quell alcohol-fuelled crime. Superintendent Norman Mellors, who has just taken charge of policing in the city, has also raised concerns about the number of licenced premises in Portsmouth. It comes as a Freedom of Information request by The News reveals 406 crimes were reported in Portsmouth's Guildhall Walk last year. Of those, 233 were violent offences which resulted in 118 people being injured due to an assault. Superintendent Mellors said: 'I remain concerned about the number of licenced premises contained within the city. I wel…

Hello I have said what station I would like to be placed in when I sent off my application form. Out of curiosity, are specials allowed to do TPT shifts? does it depend on their ability? Or are they just placed on the SNT team? I have been out on observer shifts and know how both work, and I personally wouldn't mind joining either one of them. Any answers would be great

Hi all! Just thought I'd say that I'm off to CWUN tomorrow for an observation shift in the control room . Should be really interesting to see the different things that go on and how they work down there. I've already been to the FEC for a shift and found that really enjoyable so hopefully CWUN should be even better! I'll tell you how I get on Sam

Just wondering if anyone else is booked into Class 311 (or any others that may be running) If so.. "Hello!"

Having read the Hampshire Specials forum, it seems that A PLC course (the same as surrey police require you to have completed before applying) and having been a special for 2 years is going to be the preferred new recruitment route. Where does that leave the rest of us i wonder? having spoken to recruitment recently it seems unlikely to them that there will be any external recruitment in this financial year (2011/12) i would be happy to go to college part time to gain this qualification (if it is required) but the regular recruitment team dont seem to have any information to update us with. What do others waiting for a start date think? is this going to be the s…

Hello Could someone tell me what it involves a video police line up? I'm due to attend one next week and would like to know what to expect. I witnessed a burglary in progress, and have given an e-fit. I'd like to help the police, they were very nice to me when I needed them on several occasions 2 years ago, and got protection. Does it take long? do I watch a video (what's on the video?) of people lined up like on TV? thanks I'm always a bit nervous and relax better if I know what to expect in advance. thank you very much Patricia
