Devon & Cornwall Police

Hello everyone. Was just wondering if anyone who passed the paper sift around 16th Feb, is still waiting on an assessment date; because I know of some people who received their letter on the same day as me and have been given a date. Starting to get worried :O lol.

Hi guys, A fantastic opportunity to live in Looe, Cornwall has come my way, but the only issue is that D & C don't seem to be recruiting PIP Level 2 DC Transferee's at this moment in time. The D & C Police website says: "We currently have a recruitment freeze. This includes the recruiting of transferees. We do not expect to review the situation until late 2011, although during this time we will continue to monitor any developments". I feel I have so much to give the force (working on an extremely busy PPU, SOLO, FLO, DC etc..) but feel I have come to a cross roads in my career.. I am even thinking about taking a career break and heading back to Uni.. This time…

As the title says can Devon & Cornwall Police realistically go from July 2010 to post May 2015 (the next general election) without recruiting regular officers at all? Losing 700 officers and support staff in total is going to obviously suggest no straight away although the pension shortfall for those already in the job and newly retired is going to require new people to be paying pension contributions into the pot in order for the system to sustain itself financially. Is it realistic to expect a Police Force to go 5 years without recruiting regular Officers as that would not only put a massive strain on the pension scheme but would in reality mean 6 years without re…

So have any of you been invited to this? My friend who also applied recieved her letter confirming the Assessment Days as occurring in May and July. I haven't had a letter regarding this, so i'm assuming I'll recieve an invitation to a later assessment. Good luck to everyone being assessed!

I see this forum has gone a little "Q" of late, just like to wish all of you going for a specials post in D&C the very best of luck! share your tales here..

A brand new BBC3 documentary series is looking for serving and retired police officers to tell us about the funniest and strangest things that have happened to them during their career. We’d like to hear about: • The daftest or most incompetent criminals you’ve ever encountered. • The funniest thing that ever happened to you during your time on the force. If you are interested in taking part, please contact us so that we can tell you a bit more about the show. We’d also love to hear your stories. Our programme will provide an insight into best practices, celebrate the achievements of the police and convey a strong central message: Crime doesn’t pay and …

Evening everyone, Just joined up to the site as I'm very excited!!! Just got back from a weekend away and noticed I've received my formal letter to start Oct Was wondering if anyone else has got an Oct start date? Cheers Vince

Hi all, no doubt this has been asked elsewhere but I couldn't see another topic covering it..... can someone clarify the situation on boots, do we have to buy our own or are we issued some? When I has my uniform fitting he implied I would get some on induction wkend but my letter says to bring some along, I don't know if this is just until they do then give us some or if we need to buy our own official boots to use. thanks in advance!

Does anyone on this know if PC Sarah Newall is on this? just wondering as I'm her cousin and have just been accepted into Strathclyde Police Force. would be nice to catch up with her :)
