I've started swimming/floundering at the Riverside, nad although I can easily go 150m using breaststroke, I'm not quite doing 50m in 1m 30 :new_eyebrow: I am pushing myself to 50m using front crawl by reducing my rest period inbetween 50m lengths... I think I am going to get some 1:1 tuition to help. So how are other people dealing with it? Or am I the only person in this swimming boat? xD

I have a perfect example to answer the following question but it's not related to my job: Q1 PROFESSIONALISM please describe a specific occasion when you have intervened to take control of a situation? I stopped an assault by a drunk driver who had a dangerous dog who was attacking an innocent motorist who was pulled from his car. I dragged the man off and detained him by calming him down and locking him in his own car. (I've gone into more detail through the sub questions). It has no relation to my profession as a Graphic Designer so should I put it in? Mr profession doesn't contain many opportunities were I have to stop another designer and say "that's not right, I'…

I spent many months looking at the D&C website, waiting for the application date to arrive, and every time time the date drew close it was moved back! Then purely out of luck, I checked it recently, and they'd started recruiting again. The only hiccup was that I had about five days to receive, complete the forms and return them. So I was up till 0200 on the closing date, and duly hand delivered my application form about eight hours later at 1000. Somehow, I passed the paper sift (I believe that's the technical term? :new_eyebrow: ). I'm not quite sure how, as I felt rushed an unprepared but hey ho. I've got an interview in a couple of weeks! I've been given four c…

Just working through the form at the moment. A full time officer friend put me onto this site for reference. I want to say hello and hopefully I'll see some other members on here in October!

Good luck to everyone who has interviews today. Just remember to be yourself, they're not there to trip you up. Hopefully I'll see you all on the 16th for the fitness test. Time to get ready Once again, good luck all. Matt

Does anyone know when in the training stage we will get extra short sleeve tshirts. In this weather one isn't enough I've found them online to buy and have bought one to see if they are the same which I'll use for the gym when we get more.

Hi all. New to this forum. I received a letter this week asking if I could attend an interview on the 26th for the role of a special constable. Being in the police force is something I've wanted to do since I can remember, so this is a great opportunity for me to fulfil my dream. How did people find the interview, obviously I'm not looking for what happened in them as this could be seen as cheating which I don't want to do, just finding out how long it was, what to expect etc? Also, do you find out if you've passed the interview there and then? Or do you have to wait for another letter? Many thanks Matt.

Hello all! New to this site, having been looking at the particular topic via Google. I am through to the fitness test stage, for Special Constables, with D&C Police for next month (May). Joining the police has always been a lifelong ambition, however I was born deaf in one ear and a high frequency loss (Only slight) in the working one. My good ear has always made up for this and adapted to the difference. I have previously worked in environments, that on paper I shouldn't be able to do but I did for a good 12 years, including being a sound engineer! When the question was asked, if I consider myself to have a disability, the answer I gave was no because it simply…

Good afternoon. I'm hoping someone can assist. Is there any kind of pension available for Special Constables? I'm aware that there could be something seperate to regular officers that's possibly force specific but i'm not 100% Any knowledge would be appreciated :-) Many thanks.

Im currently at the gym building up my fitness for later training to become a PCSO officer, and I was wondering what training is needed for the swimming side of it, as Im having mixed information. Do I need to be able to just swim 50m or swim 50m as well as diving after a block and back stroke with a life saving dummy (in or out of clothing)? Help on this would be mutch appreciated. I will also be phoning the local Police HQ to find out as well. Also before I forget, is the swimming done in groups or 1 and 1?
