Bas and I have been 'debating' this topic elsewhere today and I thought I'd bring it up here. Basically, my view point is that newspapers get no sympathy from me in regards to super-injunctions. If they'd stop printing things that are none of their or our business, they'd have some moral high-ground to stand on. I don't see it as 'press freedom' being curtailed. I see it as the law standing in to protect the privacy of individuals from being splashed across newspapers. Their lives get destroyed for a 5 minute story on newspapers.. Bas's response was: To which I replied: And he came back with: Lastly, my reply was:

Tens of thousands of asylum seekers have in effect been granted an amnesty to stay in Britain because of blunders in the immigration system, MPs said last night. They are among 450,000 whose case files were found abandoned in boxes at the Home Office five years ago. Of these, 430,000 have now been considered, and 161,000 immigrants have been given the right to stay – many simply because they have been here so long. On top of that, another 74,500 people have been 'lost' because officials do not know whether they have left the country or died. They are placed in a 'controlled archive' for six months while checks are carried out before they are put in storage – in effect…

Police believe the would-be anarchist accidentally flicked the bomb's detonator switch as he fumbled around outside the bank in Chile as he tried to force a way inside. He was recorded on camera moments before the blast sneaking up to the entrance. A powerful fireball then lights up the area and Schuffeneger is seen staggering around in pain. Flames gradually engulf the man before he walks slowly into the road where cars stop and a driver throws a blanket over him. Witnesses said the man's accomplice fled on a motorcycle after the bomb went off outside the Santander …

I have often come into contact with custody suites at police stations who have to safely and securely deal with some of society's most disturbed members of the public and care for them whilst safe guarding there legal rights. The safe guards and use of CCTV / audio recording, custody records and many other systems to safe guard the well being of those detained at the police station, yet in the UK it seems that the government uses private hospitals who provide secure custodial settings for those detained under the mental health act. Having watched in shock the treatment of patients by the so called care staff at Winterbourne View Hospital near Bristol which caters for 24…

An internal review is to be carried out at Cork Airport after a man drove through a perimeter fence and hijacked an emergency vehicle yesterday. The man was overpowered at Cork Airport after he broke through the security fence there and rammed several vehicles. The man produced a knife to a garda who stopped him on Patrick St in Cork city centre at around 4.30pm. He slashed the garda across the face, hijacked his garda jeep and drove off, ramming several other vehicles and forcing terrified shoppers to dive for cover. He drove through the city centre, out the Southlink Road and up to Cork Airport, crashing through the security fence at the old terminal. The man then …
