I came across this on BBC news today http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-16410118 Should this be an area the government needs to poke its nose into? I'm all for freedom of choice, if someone who is terminally ill wants to die I say they should have that right. We wouldn't let a sick animal suffer so why do we let people?

Was wondering if we are required to have a TV licence by law? Was on Youtube earlier and ended up looking at vids' re: this. Let's assume I don't have a TV but have a computer that allows me to watch TV, however, I only watch Sky, 4od, etc, not BBC channels. Is not having a licence in such circumstances a criminal or civil matter?

Oxford City Council defends using CCTV in taxis Page last updated at 06:41 GMT, Friday, 23 December 2011 Oxford City Council has defended putting CCTV in all taxis and private hire cars. The cameras record both sound and pictures and Oxford is the second major city to say they should be compulsory. All taxis in the city must have them installed by 2015, with other cities monitoring the programme's progress. They've been in place in Southampton for the last year where the council claims they have helped bring people to justice. Critics though, say the cameras go too far. The policy is unlawful, unworkable and should be dropped Nick Pickles, Big Brother Watch…

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-leeds-16224062 An NHS consultant - who is also married to another doctor - is being paid £4.5 million from the NHS and 3 Senior staff. Apparently she has suffered chronic PTS disorder. I have to say this sort of thing repulsed me when compared to the sort of payout soldiers get for losing limbs and compensation that victims of crime get. I shouldn't imagine a family where both adults are senior doctors is going to be short of a few bob, but to divert that amount of funds from healthcare to pay a woman because she was picked on is in my mind disgusting. I'm sorry but people who have their legs blown off return to work as soldiers, I…

The parents of Shamirah Grant attending court to hear the sentence passed on the driver who killed their nine-year-old daughter. Photograph: Anna Gowthorpe/PAA learner driver who killed a nine-year-old girl on her first outing has been jailed for two years after the judge told her she had showed a "thoughtless disregard for the safety of others". Leeds crown court heard that Beatrice Mawamba, 34, had given herself only online theory lessons and had never driven a car when her husband took her out on 31 May near their home in Chapeltown, Leeds. Unable to find the brake pedal, she lost control and careered down an alley into a children's play area. Nine-year-old Shamirah …
