An investigation has been launched following claims a judge fell asleep in court, causing a child rape trial to be halted. The Judicial Conduct Investigations Office confirmed it is looking into the allegation against Recorder Philip Cattan, who was presiding over a trial at Manchester Crown Court. The complaint is that Recorder Cattan nodded off as a young alleged victim was giving evidence this week via video-link in the trial of John Quigley. The judge stopped the trial following the allegation and it will now be re-listed. Sky News Interfax (Russian news agency) are saying that the aircraft was shot down. Sky News are now adding that the aircraft was at 33,000ft (FL30) and has been downed by a BUK (SAM) missile. Very sad news, brings up many old debates we had on here of NHS workers being unable to adequately defend themselves or have access to officers with adequate PPE/powers to not only ensure their own safety but the safety of staff and others.

I'm not sure if this is the right section or place to ask the question, but I'm just wondering, was there an attempt on the kings ( juan Carlos)life last year in either Spain or Paris?? Iv heard he broke his arm as he got took to the floor for safety and a security guard took a bullet in the chest as he jumped in front of him. Iv tried to search online but can't see anything :/ I understand fully the disclaimer.

The article goes on somewhat, and though I've not heard any call for military intervention (yet), this all smacks of one Tony Blair all those years ago and WMD, the man who used it all as a base to go storming in to a country we had no right to be. Indeed, I believe it was down to Blair that the seeds were sown for the crises today. Nonetheless, Cameron needs to be asked: who has further decimated the armed services and the police who exist to protect us from these threats? Over to you, Cameron. Link
