Long time since I have been on this site. I first joined the site in 2003 when I became a special in the MET then joined the BTP full time in Aug 04 now im back in the MET. This website was the greatest source of information when I became a special in 2003 and I made some good friends on this site. Hiya, Can anyone tell me in laymans terms what PACS and SOROC is? I am awaiting training dates to become a Special Constable and read somewhere that completion of SOROC quickly is beneficial. Thanks Mike

Recently spoke with a work colleague who told me that his wife had been approached by her boss and asked if she would take 3 points for him after he was caught speeding and had received the NIP, this was due to the usual 9 points already and facing a ban. My friends wife politely declined despite an offer of £1000 for taking the points. The national police driving instructors certificate: Who offers this certificate, how long is it and how much is it? I was just doing a random search on the net about network rail, now amazingly this Police! Specials forum give some very useful info to theifs ... Now don't get me wrong here but aren't police supposed to prevent crime not give crucial information away of what gate keys give free access to places etc. I only joined the forum just because 1 its to bloody easy to .... Apologies if this is in the incorrect place. I've given birth to my second child 11 weeks ago & wondered how other specials coped if they are nursing their baby? I was wondering when officers are out on patrol together and go to make an arrest how do you decide who gets the arrest. Does it depend on how many arrests each officer has made across the week/month or is it a lot more competitive than that.

Hello, This is my first post on this forum so please be kind! I am currently a special constable, however about a year ago, before I became a special, I witnessed a crime (rape, as it happens) I have now been asked to go to court as a witness. My question is, do I wear uniform or not? My initial thought was no because I witnessed the crime as a civilian, but would like to get some clarification, maybe someone has been in this situation? Also on the same topic if a special were to witness a crime whilst off duty then would they wear they're uniform to court. Look forward to your replies Thanks, James

I passed my assessment! Found out this Monday, and really chuffed! I actually thought I hadn't done so well, but shows that a bit of interview prep is definately worth doing :new_thmbdn2: Fitness test isnt till 3rd July now though as I couldnt make the original date, but hey ho, I think the worst part is over now :new_doh2: and look forward to training after my fitness test!

I visited another police community website yesterday and they were discussing/posting about various Chief Officer appointments and vacancies. In one post it was implied/alleged that Chief Officers are appointed if they are 'YES MEN/WOMEN' (I take this term to mean that they will always do what the HO asks). The question is, do you think that this is correct, that Chief Officers of Police are all YES......?
