So apparently I can't quote Police Oracle here, but they state that the Police Federation is looking at Special's membership as many will know. If it is approved, they will charge the full amount as a reg for membership, which is currently £260 a year although they are looking to reduce this to £200 for everyone. There will not be any discounts for Specials from the Fed. So would you pay £16.50 a month for membership? I've had help from a Fed rep in a previous PSD investigation and I must admit I would like their advice in future. Would I spend the full amount? Possibly. My initial feeling is that it's a bit steep. I'd pay maybe £10 per month but that extra 65% me…

http://www.bbc.co.uk/democracylive/house-of-commons-26628346 TSG officers are charged for hearing at Kingston Crown Court in 2009 with racist crimes this video is grindingly slow and lasts 1 hour but is massively worth watching !! DPS = directorate of professional standards (complaints) TSG = territorial support group (Police who patrol/ go to incidents in a minibus very front line) Liberal Democrat MP Tessa Munt is a knight in shining armour here - she should get a medal for this!!

I got a new PNB yesterday and realized that my last one was issued on exactly the dame day last year. I had a look back and it's pretty consistent that I'm averaging exactly one PNB Per Year. That's probably a bit less than it should be as I'm not as verbose as I want to be. So how many PNBs do you usually get though?

All, Just wondering whether the PC applications for England & Wales are all the same or do they differ slightly from force-to-force in the competency questions? Ta.

Shamelessly stolen from inspired by Reddit... We all learn something new every day, especially when the policing world we inhabit is so large. This is a thread for you to share a newly acquired piece of policing knowledge or information that may have some impact/influence/interest on your policing activity. This can be obscure legislation, first time definitions (if you're in training etc.), trivia, or a new method of working etc. etc. I'd like to try and keep this out of the locker room, so no 'funnies'. And obviously not for any operational information. Links, if available, should be added. So share the love... To start with: Today I learned that there is a S…

Alright guys, I am soon to be getting my Day One for MSC-PC date through anytime soon. I was just wondering what's involved and what books/aids I should buy? What should I revise up on? Any advice would be appreciated. Cheers (Not sure if this is the right place to post this - apologies if this is the case)

just finished watching this video and it got me wondering why some officers prefer to use empty hand techniques after spray has had no affect as opposed to using batons when facing violence. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a-0karLq-rE&feature=player_embedded

this video the man that was stopped and the officer asks him to show his Driving licence - which is obviously a must under the circumstances. The stopped driver then says "under what law, i'm under common law jurisdiction - are you talking statute law?" I keep hearing the same/similar sentences e.g "thats an act not a law" "is that under common law?" etc I know common law is based on judge precedent and statutes are passed by the legislator but what is peoples point when they keep dropping these sort of lines? If it's common law - you abide If it's a statute offence - you abide or you face arrest... Hope people can understand my confusion? i.e what's the point the…

Hey guys, I was wondering if Specials from other police forces could give me feedback in relation to how things are run at their force and the positives and negatives? Where do you do your hours, NPT, response Etc? Do you manage to complete your 16 hours per month and if not how to they react? Do you feel the Specials are utilized fully and valued? What is your training like? I'm trying to fight for change and your feedback would help massively! Thanks

Does anyone know what each of these mean? Every now and then whilst on duty, I come across someone saying it over the radio, I think ive gathered that R5 is a generic "Yes, received" but Im not sure about the others. If someone does know what they are, do share your valuable information :D Thanks
