I am thinking of applying for a job as a CIT Driver for G4S handling cash. Does this apply as a conflict of interest? I am currently serving as a Special.

So I was browsing Imgur, and came across this post http://imgur.com/gallery/7V8h4 that shows a concealable handcuff key, so i decided to make this thread, to A: bring this to peoples attention, and B: wanted somewhere we could post similar items if we come across them so we can all be safe and improve our searches. I'm posting it here because I don't think it fits in Kit Corner.

Hi all I am looking to get some footwear for when I start my PCSO role on the 24th of February. I am currently looking at some Magnum Panther 8.0 Black Boots. I was wondering if anyone has any knowledge on the magnum range of boots? This particular pair seem to be the best value for money. Can anyone give me any info on firstly whether these particular boots are suitable for the role and also whether the boots are comfortable and last a long time? Any comments will be greatly appreciated. Kind regards Matt

I have not been a special for that long so im still learning but something the other day really puzzled me. Myself and my reg colleague turned up to a department store in the town responding for 2 males having been detained for shoplifting. When we got back to custody the reg booked them both in as he took both arrests, and when the custody skipper asked "why was he arrested" for both males my colleague replied shoplifting. I thought you would have had to say theft...is shoplifting in offence itself as opposed to being known as theft and can you book someone into custody by simply stating shoplifting? I know that might not sound very intellectual and some of you might s…

I was wondering how many of you handled the question of exhaustion and sleep patterns. Most specials have full time employment often 9 to 5 roles, then in the evening after work they turn up for duty. Recently talking to a regular officer the subject of tiredness and lack of sleep came up in conversation related to specials. The officer mentioned at weekends he often drove the specials bus (PSU Carrier) deployed with a group of specials and a regular as driver. Quiet often as the nice dragged on it would be quiet common for the specials to fall in to sleep in the back of the warm bus, the common view amongst regulars is that having completed a full days work that speci…

Hi. Looking for help and advice, I know im an idiot so dont need people to point that out I was a special constable for 3 years, i took my radio home and was off work for a few months, in that time police came to my dads house, where i lived, but was not in at the time. When they came in my dad was listening to my radio and they took it off him. Subsequently I was asked to resign! So, will I ever get back in he police as special, pcso or pc? Its my dream job and all Iever think of, I have learnt from my mistake but is that enough? Thanks in advance Bex

I was just revising corporate manslaughter - An organisation to which this section applies is guilty of an offence if the way in which its activities are managed or organised - causes a person's death; and amounts to a gross breach of a relevant duty of care owed by the organisation to the deceased. An organisation is guilty of an offence only if the way in which its activities are managed or organised by its senior managementis a substantial element in the breach referred to in subsection (1). source - http://www.cps.gov.uk/legal/a_to_c/corporate_manslaughter/#as01 And it got me thinking, with all those near miss forms that officers submit and the request for a…

Hello, I understand that a lot of specials do their duty after work, or on rest days, but for the specials that turn up to early shifts, or work early starts themselves, how do you sleep before a dead early start? I can never seem to manage more than 3-4 hours before the first early as I have to be up for 5am, I know of one person who claims she doesn't sleep a wink before the first early shift... If anyone has cracked it, without the use of recreational drugs or voodoo magic, please enlighten me below!

As in the title. I can find a copy of the actual statutory instrument on legislation.gov.uk. However, I can't find a copy with all the up to date annexes etc. I'm particularly interested in Annex H at the moment but can only find bits and pieces quoted on various Force Fed websites.

Would be great to get feedback on how you all carry your cuff key. I have one of the viper style keys on a retractable metal cord. Which seems to work well in normal circumstances. However following an issue in custody where someone else needed fast access to a key whilst we were all rolling around on the floor I am wondering if it would be worthwhile have a 2nd on the key carrier carried to the rear of my duty belt. Thoughts?.

Colour vision deficiency within UK Police I am aware that this title may seem pretty dull and uninteresting to most people, but please read on, even if you are not colour deficient. Through my own research, I have found that there is very little information regarding colour vision deficiencies (the term colour blind will be loosely applied) within UK Police Forces. I hope this thread will allow a centralized, ongoing collection of information and personal experiences of this disability, hopefully in more depth than that is available elsewhere online. Before I delve any further, here is a little background into colour deficiencies. NHS: People with colour vision defici…
