Hi all. Just reading my training notes, on section about ‘Wanted/Missing’ reports: it states - Found - subjects who have been found and who cannot be identified, including dead bodies, people suffering loss of memory, and unconscious victims of crime or accidents. My question is: if the subject cannot be identified, how can there be a PNC report on them? aren't the reports usually linked to a name etc?

I do martial arts and we always wear 'cuppers' to protect our crown jewels. I have noticed when you wear them inside the trousers it's not very overt due to their size. Are they allowed on patrols? how do officers protect the most vulnerable bit if they are not? (are there force issued cuppers)

Im just wondering really what different forces views were on recruiting officers who have a mental health problems, such as schizophrenia, schizoid and bi-polar? I only ask because a colleague of mine is worrying about being diagnosed with schizoid, and it stopping her from joining the regulars within the next year or so and having a stigma attached to her name. Just trying to offer her support really. Thanks!

I did do a search before I posted, so hopefully it's not a repost. Just wondering, what do you guys/gals love most about policing? Although I am still a student constable, I think mine would be - 1 - being there for people 2 - adventure 3 - training, development and maturity 4 - teamwork for now from what I have seen, may change after I am posted to BCU!

I hope this topic hasn't been covered already, I did a search but couldn't find anything as direct / specific. It would be great for this community to find out what drove it's members to apply for and join the police force as a Special Constable. The reasons probably range from ordinary to extraordinary but it would be good to know what they are.

Interesting video talking about how to use data in a way to tackle whether to bail or not after arrest. Mods, I've posted here as I felt it warranted general discussion, but if you think maybe news is better, please feel free to move.

Just watched the latest recruitment advert for Police Scotland, colleagues in Scotland have remarked at the lack of admin and paper work shown in the advert and not a computer in site. Is this something new that Police Scotland have done away with paper work and computers ? When the video was filmed, must have been the one weekend of Scottish annual summer time, as it seems to always rain whenever I get off the plane in Edinburgh or Glasgow ? http://youtu.be/VodI0yleRA4

Until recently I'd heard very little about the work of collision investigation units and forensic collision reconstruction but it's a fascinating role. Has anyone had any first hand experience or know of opportunities for specials to get involved? I believe the set-up of the units/teams can vary a bit depending on area.

What your thoughts on this guy? Surely it's a set up, right?

I'm sure we have all seen some of Charlie's controversial videos, I for one, got really wan noted with some. However his latest, about Mark Dougan, makes a good point. What is everyone's thoughts on this?

Anyone seen this? No epaulettes worn, but for a seemingly valid reason, although most forces do require them to be worn at all times. Also what offence, if any, would blowing smoke in someones face, constitute?

We all like a good Freeman video don't we? I know I do. When I found this video on Youtube I was shocked to see that the Freeman 'movement' had spread to my free and fair South Yorkshire I couldn't help but click the link, in this video some Freemen decided to 'ask some questions' at Doncaster Magistrates Court (or was it to film a documentary?... Or just to cause a scene and be as annoying as possible? I think they forgot along the way.) After watching this video though I couldn't help but draw comparisons to our freeman friend in the states who ended up receiving some high-voltage taser treatment from their court appointed bailiffs, in comparison to these G4S Guards w…

The PC who lied in the "plebgate" affair has had his resignation "rejected". (http://m.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-25850209). Am I the only one who finds this a bizarre situation: the job is essentially saying, "no, you have to remain on our payroll." I can't think of anything in my terms and conditions where it says I can't leave (after giving my month's notice). And then, when he is stuck on, the result will be a sacking...so, the result will be the same, just with him receiving a several more pay packets. Am I missing something?
