I have noticed as a proby that my note taking for briefings is sometimes not very good. Any tips on taking notes down accurately and fast? Currently I write wanted or search first, then name then markers. Extra like address etc most often gets missed for lack of time. Tips?

Hi, Unsure if this is the correct section to post on this forum, however I called the police last year to report screams down the street. Someone could be getting raped or killed or mugged or it may be a prank with girls hanging out with their pals. The operator told me what did I see i said seen nothing as its dark but heard a few screams late at night. As usual the police diddnt turn up. Recently, a woman was murdered around my area and no one reported screams. What does the law or police say on this?

So I am watching coppers and officers on there said when they search houses druggies discard used needles everywhere. They go through their stuff and it could end up with them being having a needle in their finger. I suppose similar dangers could occur with S1 PACE/S23 MOD search on the streets. If I understand correctly, these needles are normally obtained from dirty sources. The offenders themselves could have diseases. So how exactly do you execute a search without getting a needle stuck in you? what do you do if it happens? (Trainer told me that you use back of hand to feel through a section before sticking your hand in it, but thats it) Could experienced office…

So this is often a point of conversation. How the Police Federation don't allow Police specials to join, and while there is a bit of a discussion about it, it seems slow moving. So, I realise it seems a a bit extreme, but what would a specials police federation actually need to do? It strikes me that actually many of the services the PolFed offer wouldn't be needed by specials, so if we were to be allowed and to pay full membership it'd be a bit of a raw deal. Also, I think one of the main concerns is that the police federation couldn't represent our views effectively as we have some unique needs really. So lets entertain the idea that a group had decided to start the T…

Woke up this morning to have found some markings on the outside of my front door, the door itself, and INSIDE of the door frame has been chipped away using some sort of tools. Looks like someone has really tried to attempt to get in. This is a rented house, and I have lived here just over 6 months, so there is a possibility it has always been there, but only a small possibility as the chances are I would have seen this before. I also noticed mud prints on my door which seems to have been foot prints, this was the other day but I didn't think anything from it. The reason I am posting this is because I'm unsure what to do, should I be reporting this kind of thing? I don't…

Does anybody have any good tips to get rid of the smell? My daughter (police cadet) came back from a cannabis factory take down last night. She and her uniform stank when she got back, the uniform is not too bad now it's been washed twice, but the boots even after they have been scrubbed and had lots of polish applied still smell pretty strong. I was wondering about half an apple in each boot, as I know they are pretty good at absorbing smells in fridges etc?

Hi all. Sorry if this has been done to death 100 times before. What do you wear to court. I have been told by some regulars that as its a duty you should be in full kit, stab vest, cs, radio the lot. Some say just uniform without the protective gear. Others say anything you want so long as its smart. I was thinking Option 2...Uniform but no stab vest and cs etc. Any ideas???

Police often find themselves in high-stress, high-stakes scenarios—facing unruly drunken mobs, drivers stuck in cars about to explode and knife-wielding maniacs. This series of videos from ad agency Brain Candy for the Scottish Police Federation, a professional trade group, wants you to consider how you'd handle yourself in a cop's shoes. The ads work hard to build the sort of suspense that will actually make you feel uncomfortable. They do a pretty good job of it, too—particularly the first brutal spot below. The personal details about the officers help anchor the ads. The only question is whether they could have done it a little more quickly. The ads clock in at between…

Found this video on Youtube which I haven't seen before and in my opinion demonstrates perfectly how cops should deal with the rather 'confused' folk who subscribe to the whole 'Freeman on the Land' routine. The Traffic Cop tries to be fair, explains his powers and procedures and well, when that doesn't work takes the appropriate action required - no messing around. The video is hilarious on numerous fronts, I won't spoil it for anyone, you'll just have to watch it!
