Whats the situation on having a cap gun that looks like an old style cowboy revolver as part of a fancy drees costume? I've got a cap gun from disney land paris and want to use it as part of a cowboy outfit to go around on a pub crawl for leaving school . I';ve looked at the beat officers companion and I think its okay to use but not 100% any help would be greatly appreciated thanks

Local lout was supposedly arrested last night for D&D. According to his story, he spent a night in the cells and has to pay a £80 within 21days. Is that standard, I thought a fine had to be paid straight away for D&D.

I am hoping to take up clay pigeon shooting and I am now looking for some advise. Would a gun cabinet that has 2 locks but only one that functions correctly still be classed as approved when the house check gets done for the firearms certificate. Or shall i fore go that ebay offer and go for one that is fully functioning to save time.

Someone i work with uses drugs and drives while smoking weed. Is it a waste of time me reporting him? As i have heard cannibis stays in your system for months, so i imagine proving they were driving under the use of drugs would be hard. Even more so since he doesnt seem to change how he acts around me. Other than mood swings which im not sure if it is down to the drugs or not. But basicly is it likely to get him charged with anything or will it just be a waste of time for the police?

Got a small problem. Nothing serious and probably not even a police matter but curious if anybody knows the best way to handle this. I bought a PC from somebody I considered a friend not so long back, he asked for £150 for it and I am paying it off in bits as I am pretty strapped for cash. I was due to pay again on thursday however my grandad died just over a week ago and being the closest person to him (I was his carer most of the time) I am obviously grieving. On top of that is the issue of funeral expenses. Basically every penny I have has gone on the funeral stuff as he didn't have much to leave behind when it comes to finances and my "friend" has basically contacted…

(not that I'm planning on getting nicked or nicking a colleague!) But are there any special procedures to follow when a police officer is arrested? Do officers of a certain rank have to get involved? What happens to the officers warrant card when he's taken into custody? et cetera...

I was on my way to work, and seeing as my stupid car has a burst radiator pipe, i decided to catch the bus. on the bus, i found a knife. it was one with a button that you press and knife pops out. I didnt want to leave the knife there. seeing as it was 3 oclock in the evening and the school rush was about to start. And i didnt want to hand it in to the driver. So i took it with me ( didnt open it) and got off in the city centre. i eventualy (about 10 mins later) found a pc. i told her where i had found it. She took the knife off me. and told me it was going to be destroyed. there have been alot of stabbings in our local area, and on that particular bus route. she didnt ta…

Well ive just got back in from an off licence and their was a father in with his son who was obiously underage. When i got to the counter there was already a 1/2 ltr bottle of Vodka and two bottles of coke there. The son then ran off and got 4 cans of Stella and then also mentioned to his dad about 2ltr bottle of Bella. The son then ran off again but this time brought back a 2ltr bottle of Lambrini. Im wondering if this is sufficient enough evidence to lead to action being made against the shop for selling drink to minors and if so where do i find the number to ring to let the police know for my local area which is Northumberland Police Force or is there an email i co…

are there any dispensations to travel through red traffic lights if they appear to be stuck on red? I was on a bus yesterday where the lights went through about three rotations but "our" light remained on red..... eventually the driver (logically enough) went through it when it was safe.... (it was about 5 in the morning so there was no traffic around anyway - not that that makes much of a difference)

One power that seems to often get overlooked (particularly in the met) is Section 59 PRA - which makes it an offence to drive carelesly and anti socially and gives a power of seizure. In order for the offence to be complete the constable requires suspicion of Careless/Inconsiderate Driving AND causing "alarm, distress or annoyance". A key note I believe being that for the alarm/distress more than 1 memeber of public must be affected. I issued my first warning to a driver last week whom another officer had said he had seen "driving at speed on the high street and shouting abuse at pedestrians on the high street"..so in my opinion this satisfied the requirements? What wo…

Hi All, I'm asking this purely on a point of law. Supposing an office decides to pop the bubbly and dish out a load of Champagne to their staff for hitting a target (for example), are they actually breaking any laws (eg licensing)? Are their any laws specifically around alcohol in the workplace (not as in a pub, but I mean somewhere that doesn't have an alcohol licence, and would not have any reason to get one, such as an office)? Just to clarify no alcohol would actually be being sold, just given away.

Is there another law or section about searching other than the standard ones like Sec1 PACE, Sec23 MDA or Sec32 PACE etc reason i ask is on my PDP there is a section titled 'Dealing with Incidents' and a sub section with 'where necessary exercise the relvant powers of search'. So if i detained someone for an incident but hadnt arrested at that point are there other things i could do for search or would they still be covered by the basics stop search ones? Sorry for the ramblings

Hi guys, Just wanted to ask a quick question in relation to police bail. I was arrested 9 weeks ago after the police pulled over my car in which I was giving an old friend a lift home. Upon stopping us they acted out a search of my friend and also myself which turned up nothing and then proceeded to search my car and to my dismay found a bag with some cannabis stuffed behind glovebox, I personally don't smoke so could only conclude that while I was talking to the officer that my supposed friend had decided to hide what he was carrying in the car. We were both duly arrested as I could not give a sufficient answer to as to how they had gotten there and my friend decided t…
