I was stopped by police today as I was talking on my mobile phone and driving. I pulled in as soon as I saw them as I knew they had seen me. They gave me a fixed penalty of £60.00 and 3 points. They alsp noticed I had no tax or mot but do have insurance. The car is old and I could not tax it last month as ithad no mot. I admitted the no tax and mot and said I had only driven it as I needed to visit my Mum who is ill but I had already found a new car to replace it.They said I have to produce licence, mot and ins cert within 7 days. I am looking into what a significant silence is on page 87 of PACE 11.4A. It states A SIGNIFICANT SILENCE IS A FAILURE OR REFUSAL TO ANSWER A QUESTION OR ANSWER SATISFACTORILY WHEN UNDER CAUTION, (WHICH MIGHT, ALLOWING FOR THE RESTRICTION ON DRAWING ADVERSE INFRENCES FROM SILENCE) I am having difficulty with this as they only come into play when under caution and the caution clearly states YOU DO NOT HAVE TO SAY ANYTHING......... My question or interest is regarding the Anti-Terrorism act and the extended powers recently granted; namely the "stop and search" provisions which are now available. i.e. the ability to stop and search any man or woman, without cause. Hey, I recently bought some US spec parts for my Golf, including wings. However, the wings don't have indicators as it's US. So I was thinking, could I use a cathode tube or high-power LED's (orange of couse) under the car wings that flash, for the indicators? Or is this illegal? Thanks.

I ask this question, because over the recent bank holiday weekend there was some kind of large scale cycling event near around the towns and villages where I live. I must have seen literally thousands of cyclists. One thing that struck me is that many of them, despite having professional and proper looking safety gear (helmets, clothing etc) seemed to have very little regard for the law and were not observing the Highway Code. Many were riding three abreast causing large tailbacks behind them due to the narrow, bendy roads. Was on duty wednesday in a IRV and saw an animal ambulance with a Green strobe light on the roof. I pointed this out the the regular I was with but she said they are allowed to use them as it is a animal ambulance. I only thought that doctors who respond to emergency calls are permitted to display these? Question is: Are Animal Ambulances allowed to display any type of Lighting?

Hello all, I recently had a discussion with my wife and to my horror learnt of a recent series of thefts occuring at an equestrian property owned by a fellow horseman. The most desirable things include electric fencing and associated equipment, diesel directly from the vehicles and tack (saddles etc). The obvious measures to protect the smaller items include lockable storage. The more difficult to protect is the electric fencing!! I can't believe there are people willing to risk electrocution in order to steal... More importantly however the fences were there for a reason and that was to protect and secure the horses!!! My photocard type one will be up for renewal later this year, will DVLA defiantly send me a form to fill in before the expiry date or do I pick one up at the post office? I have read in the past that DVLA have made cock up's when sending them back, for example motorcycle cat missing, a motorcycle cop had problems convincing them that he had passed the test even though he had been in the job for years. What's the best way to prevent this happening? If I take a photocopy & get officer(s) down at the station to sign/be witness, would that be enough proof for the DVLA?

I need some help and im not sure which forum to post this in. But if anyone can help me, please do! I lost a phone in a pub, upon returning the pub the staff denied any phone had been handed in. I went to where i was sat and the patrons said that a staff member told them they had found a lost phone and if it was theres. Upon finding this out i went back to the staff. They said the manger had the phone but had already given it back out, apparently the manager went round the pub saying "is this your phone?" and someone said yes and gave it out.
