Say a woman is pulled over and is issued a FNP and 3 points for having a bald tyre. Is there a timeframe in which she cannot be done for the offence again. For example, could she then drive off (still with bald tyre) and get pulled by another unit for the same offence say 30 minutes later? How bout 6 hours later? 12 hours? a day? a week? etc.

Hi, Suppose you're gathering the story of a witness or a victim as part of an MG-11 statement. Now suppose that as the person is recalling what happened, they inadvertently admit to some wrong doing that could carry a charge. The type of example that comes to mind is: "I want this guy charged with assault... I didn't do anything... and then *all of a sudden* he just started beating me...well (uhm) OK I did [[[discloses incriminating detail]]. Has anyone had to handle this kind of situation? I'm especially interested in cases where they may not think what they've done is illegal either.

A van and car are travelling along a dual carriageway, and as they approach the stationary traffic, the van who is in front of the car, swerves out at speed into the right hand lane, and the car behind not realising their was traffic, has no chance to avoid a collision with the last car at the queue. Van driver drives away and does not stop. Does the van driver commit any offence, or is it all the car drivers fault for failing to stop in time?

A mugger approaches a MOP and demands their wallet and phone, threatening violence if he doesn't get them. MOP hands over the items, and the mugger turns away and leaves. With the mugger's back turned, placing him at a disadvantage, the MOP rushes up to him, and uses a takedown on him. MOP retrieves his phone and wallet and leaves, phoning to give the police a description of the mugger. In a slightly different scenario, the MOP, after having put the mugger on the ground and retrieved his property, stays with the mugger and holds them there until police arrive on scene. Offences in either scenario by the MOP?

So here's a scenario. Daughter in law gets in car and drives directly at her husband ( he jumps out of the way) and then she drives right into the house demolishing a wall and stairs. She then leaves the car, smashes the window of the house, holds the glass at her throat, and then tries to get into the house to assault the mother in law. What would we charge her with? I was thinking criminal damage and dangerous driving with the car. Any other thoughts.

Jim is having a party at his house which he owns with his wife Susan. Jim invites everyone on the street including his neighbour and best friend Dave. Also invited are Janet from across the road and her new boyfriend Pete who has recently moved in. Jim has bought Susan a brand new shiny touch screen BlackBerry for Christmas and she thinks it is the best present ever. At the party, thinking it safe in her own home, Susan places it in a draw in the kitchen. Pete is new into the area and nobody has really had a chance to speak with him yet. He is shy and spends the night in the kitchen generally avoiding people. Just after the clock turns twelve, Susan goes to get her ph…

I was swimming with my kids yesterday and noticed a big chap with some tattoos. He had a large swastika tattoos on his chest and back along with some other Third Reich symbols, a British bulldog, and some words which looked to be in German. That got me thinking, if we were called to deal with him because his tattoos offended someone, what would be your course of action? I think a request to cover them up, with a T-Shirt say (assuming there was no verbal altercation prior to our arrival) and failing that ejection from the swimming pool. I suppose that if when challenged by a MoP or lifeguard if there were racist things said then the outcome is obvious. Would anyone go…

I wondered if any of you had had any training in the application of stop and search powers. What I mean by application is not so much the legal side as who to search and how. I am collecting different ideas to improve my own teams performance and would welcome any inputs Thanks 52TP

You come across a vehicle which you deem to be suspicious and decide to run it through PNC via comms. You call up comms on the radio and give the necessary details to the operator. The operator refuses to comply with your request with no given reason. There has previously been 'bad blood' between the two of you. Now, whilst maybe an internal matter, is this technically obstruct PC?

You come across a man dressed as santa breaking the law. You go and handcuff him but there is children standing near by that start crying because they think there won't be a christmas. How would you deal with this as you have just upset them by arresting this man that is dressed as santa

Saw this on an old episode of Smallville (S07E05 Action) and it got me wondering: A movie is being shot and part of the scene requires a gun to be shot. Clearly this would normally be a blank, however in this instance a malicious prop artist has loaded the firearm with live ammunition. The weapon is fired by Actor A and kills Actor B at the other end of the barrel. Would Actor A be committing any offences? Clearly he would be arrested and thoroughly investigated but if it was clear he had no fore-knowledge that the weapon was live would he still be responsible somehow as the person who fired the weapon?

Just had a quick search through Google regarding the above, nothing on there, (Malicious Communications Act 1998), regarding phone calls or the like. What offence would they come under, if any?

Earlier this week, i was off duty, and i was shopping in my local sainsburys with a couple of friends, and before we went in, we stopped at the cash point, when i turned around, i saw someone crossing the carpark towards the main entrance of the store, wearing what appeared to be a police micro fleece (In my force, TVP, we are all issued with a black microfleece with police written on the sleeves). When he got closer, i saw that it was in fact a police microfleece, at first i thought it may be a special/PC, whos on duty and is just getting some refs, however, on closer inspection, the person, who appeared to be about 19yrs old was wearing the police microfleece, black de…
