Scenario 1: If someone is seen to be smoking Cannabis on the balcony of their house, would you be able to enter under section 17 PACE to arrest for an indictable offence? Scenario 2: If someone was seen to be drunk and urinating on a sunny afternoon in the middle of a busy Trafalgar Square in full view of everyone, would you arrest for either: 1) Drunk and Disorderly, 2) Public Order, 3) Exposure, 4) Outraging Public Decency

A scenario, based loosely on a true event (I apologise in advance for the content of the post!) Two males, Alan & Bob, work at the same company but do not like each other. Alan finds Bob's packed lunch in the company fridge, and decides that it'd be amusing to open up the yoghurt pot and ejaculate inside it, filming himself on his mobile phone as he does so. Alan then glues the lid back down, leaving it for Bob to discover (and possibly eat) later. He shows the video to other colleagues - most find it amusing, but one conscientious colleague, Colin, reports the incident to management who simply advise Bob not to eat his yoghurt. No reason is given, and no fur…

Just to settle an argument between me and a colleague DVLA site states that you get 5 days exemption from paying road tax when you've bought it online. (exempt from Vehicle excise and registration act 1994 S33) What is the exact SI or other act that grants this?

Heres a little scenario for you. A male schoolteacher suspects a 15 year old girl is wearing an item of clothing under her uniform that he believes she should not be wearing. He makes her strip down to her bra's in the small office without any windows or without another adult around. a) does he have the right to request that? b) has he commited any offences apart from showing a complete lack of common sence?

Right here's an odd one for you lot! Dave invites John round for a party, Dave shows up to the party with the usual supplies, beer and some snacks, peanuts! Dave is highly allergic to peanuts, a severe reaction may be life threatening. John has no knowledge of this allergy. As John drinks more of his beer, he decides to open his peanuts. Dave notices this and asks John not to eat the peanuts near him and informs him of his allergy! John drinks more and more beer, and in his intoxicated state he decides to put a peanut in Daves can of beer as a joke. Dave suffers a reaction to the peanut in his beer, and he requires medical attention! What offence, if any, has John co…

Keep in mind this is in America where everyone carries knives. We regularly recover razor blades from wallets and knives disguised as credit cards are not unheard of here. Click Here Discuss

Whilst watching, the excellent, BBC Frozen Planet last week, I got thinking about a strange scenario. Say, for the purpose of this scenario, the large ice mountains, shown in the programme, were in Scotland. Two friends, Jeff and Ted, decide that they are going to climb said mountains. Due to bad planning, Jeff and Ted run out food halfway up the mountain. They also lose some equipment, meaning that, for whatever reason, only one of them can get down. The journey down, however, will be energy-sapping and impossible without eating beforehand. Jeff realises this and decides that he is going to have to kill Ted, with the intention of eating him. So, Jeff waits until Ted is…

Apologies for the format, it's my iPad. The linked video does have some swearing. I think this is a new video but apologies if not. I'm intrigued to know if any offences are committed here by either party. I guess I can see assault technically but would also argue that it is somewhat necessary? Any 'false imprisonment' offence? If you were a civilian and sat opposite how would you react to this? How would you react if you were the guy trying to move? And if you are a police officer, what would your actions/powers be?As a civilian myself, I don't think I could have resisted 'accidentally' knocking over that coffee cup into the idiots lap... As the guy involved I'd want t…

You receive a job to attend 53 Sanford Street in to deal with a loud party. Its 0100hrs and on arrival it is loud (half the street must be awake). You knock the door and the owners are clearly anti and will not cooperate. What options do you have? I am thinking more about options for the boobie standing outside the property and wants to do something rather than noise issues generally which I believe are now the councils problem.

Your on patrol when you recieve reports that a male is stood behind a parked car in a small public car park so that the driver is unable to reverse due to him being there and refusing to move. There is no connection between the male, and the female driver, this appears to be a random act. However, you attend and the male apologises, details are taken and he is sent on his way. However, 30 minutes later you receieve another call from a different person, in the same car park, that a male matching the same description as the last is not allowing her to reverse her car by standing behind it. This time when you attend, the male is not compliant and refuses to move this time…

it's a shame i didn't think of this on halloween. So you go to a scene of job reported as a murder (first on scene) and there is a person lying on the floor (blood everywhere). A second person is standing there shocked and you ask them what heppened, The person says '' THE DOLL DONE IT''. You look to the left and there is a medium sized doll, you pick it up and it says some generic words that they are programmed to say and moves it's arms etc... Later on that eveing everything is examined and bagged as evidence, a crime scene examiner looks at the DOLL and discovers it has no batteries inside it . What would you do ? Would you believe the person ? Would you leav…

Hello Specials! This scenario is based upon a true story, but i don't think it should go into 'its the law' because there's so many ways of looking at it. Mary has a cat its means the world to her, unfortunately its gone missing. John the next door neighbor often leaves his garage door open, and Mary suspects the cat may be trapped in there. She politely asks John to check his garage for her cat. John knocks on her door the next day and explains he checked he garage and her cat was not there. Mary then does the usual tricks for enticing a lost cat back to its owner, buys and asks and or pays residents to set traps in their garden, goes out at night with a fork and a ti…

Another simple scenario... A lights a firework and posts it through B's letterbox... Offences?
