I've just finished a case study scenario for uni and thought I'd see what other people might suggest for an appropriate charge in the given circs. Please note I have already submitted this work with my decided charge for the case and before I give my decision I am intrigued to read what others would consider the following incident to be. In the scenario there is swearing and racial language so I apologise for any offence it may cause, also please note this scenario is entirely fictious. DAWSON was walking home from the corner shop and saw her neighbour PRICE standing at the front of the pub. As DAWSON walks towards PRICE, DAWSON shouts "THERE GOES THAT BLACK MANS WHORE."…

Hopefully a simple one but was out this evening and was curious as to if the theatre was really allowed to do what they claim. The theatre had a security guard due to the high profile of 2 of the actors in the show, nothing new there thats often the case however the security guard came out a little while after the show and told everyone on the pavement on that side of the road that the theatre owned the pavement and that we all had to leave to beyond the "theatres land" outside the 10m-15m wide front of the theatre. This didnt strike me as correct so wondered others thoughts as i would have thought it was a public pavement and therefore the public have a right to be ther…

So. Went to drive off this morning when the car next to me was wrapped in cling film. Seeing as this is a student car park it is most probably a prank on a friends car but say the owner made a complaint to the police, would criminal damage go with this? Luckily they left my nice new Skoda alone

This has happened to a friend of mine recently. Rumour has it the ex got a mate of hers who owns a tipper truck to dump a load of gravel on the driveway of his home, blocking in my friends car in whilst he was on a weekend away ( he didnt return until very early this morning ) as a result, he spent a while clearing the driveway so he could get to work this morning. Now, sniggers aside ( its a good one ) has a crime been committed? As far as ive been told there was no damage to his car or driveway but hes adamant that he should get the police involved. So whats the score here? My reasoning is that "you mustve done something wrong, get over it and move on"

So, what offences have been committed. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k8zqNe0ujwE Obstruction of a public highway. If she did lie to a police officer about an assault, then false reporting and wasting police time Anything else?

So this is an ongoing situation but I thought it was best suited to scenario city since its a little odd and could have a couple of explanations. No official legal advice wanted etc just opinions... I'm selling my car on auto trader. I've had an email from a guy (poor english) saying he's interested and asking me to confirm asking price, condition and to send some pics. I duly respond and get the below reply: How odd is that! I replied asking if we can talk and saying its all quite unusual, ask where its being shipped to, who is he buying it for etc. He replies saying he is in London buying it for his family in Cork where it will be shipped to. There isn't too much …

A Police officer approaches a suspect with the intention of arresting him for assault. Suspect resists arrest, breaks away and runs 10 metres down the road in to a dwelling. The police officer follows him in to the house where he is able to eventually detain and arrest him for assault Suspect and suspects family complain that officer needed warrant to enter and threaten to complain. Is it the case that if the suspect was being detained for ABH the officer could enter under S17, but if its for common assault or summary only offence they would have to let suspect ran in to property and could not enter to effect his arrest?

Hello, I've looked on here for some advice on how this would have been dealt with but there is no reference to the person being drunk just 'it's a by-law' or 'section 5' which wouldn't be allowed if they are drunk. My wife was out last Friday night and had the misfortune of having a less than lady-like person tag on to her work group. This person, while drunk, decided to drop her tights (notice i haven't mentioned any underwear) and urinated in the path of people walking behind much to their disgust. I'm assuming this would be a case of D&D or a section 5?

I was chatting to a postman recently who asked me whether a postman commits any offences relating to the supply of drugs if he delivers a parcel containing a controlled drug. What do you reckon to the following four situations - does the postman commit any offences? 1. The parcel contains cannabis. The postman has no idea, and delivers it to the addressee. 2. The postman thinks that he can smell cannabis on the parcel, but isn't certain. He tells a supervisor who says "Don't worry - just deliver it". He is suspicious, but delivers the parcel to the addressee. 3. The parcel is accidentally damaged and the postman can see a deal bag inside containing a green herba…

I see that privitisation is now creeping into the police now and we all now its about police on the cheap and the lowering of wages and pensions,i have seen it elsewhere and whatever govs do to try to paper over it it gradually gets worse for everyone once its acceipted. So although i do not like strikes i think its time for a fightback before its too late and police should consider strike action against g4s.

I was wondering about this earlier, and it's probably relevant to a lot of specials here with ambitions to become regulars... If an officer charges, summonses or otherwise reports someone for process or is an important witness in something which occurs shortly before they leave the force for whatever reason, and subsequently the case goes to court, what happens? If PC Bloggs is one of your main or perhaps your only witness and has since retired, does he get hauled back in a suit to stand in the box? How about if he has been fired for some form of misconduct? More of relevance to Specials, let's say SC Smith reports someone for something shortly before he's due to leave t…

As you'll probably know, I work in a cinema with 20-odd staff. A while ago some things went missing from the staffroom changing rooms. The changing rooms are in a corridor after a punch-number lock thingy, and after going up a flight of steps. That door with the lock is behind a door to which there's CCTV coverage, but no direct footage of the staffroom door itself. There's another emergency exit through the door with CCTV coverage. Up in the staff area (behind the keypad door) there's the female changing room, a common area with tv and sofas etc, and the male changing room. Further up is a projection room. In total, 3 bags and 2 jackets went missing, both from male and…

Your on foot patrol and you notice a male with his hood pulled over his head, carrying a rucksack. He see's police and he turns quickly in the opposite direction and starts running. You shout "Stop, police, your detained for a search". You carry on running and he runs into a house, shutting the door behind him. Is he "unlawfully at large" because you have detained him for a search (assuming he did stop you would give the rest of GO WISELY?) and do you have a power of entry?

I have an odd one. I think this is the right place to put it, but its real life and happening now, so Mods, if need be, please move. I recieved a phone call this morning from a very upset friend of mine. Her brothers (2) have been in New Zealand for the past 6 months. They were due to land at Heathrow at 0600 this morning (29th Feb). My friend and her mother had agreed to pick them up between 0800 and 1000 from arrivals. They didn't show, their phones are off and they can't make any contact. Heathrow information have said they can't tell them anything and they should ring the police. They are hesitant. The father (who doesn't live with my friend or her mum) when cont…

You are off duty and you and your partner have gone out for dinner or to a bar for a few drinks, Surprisingly you bump into one of lifes undesirables, you know him to be a criminal and he knows you to be a police officer, he approaches you and makes a harmlessbut smug comment about your partner, for instance 'beautiful girl you've got there', The content of the comment is not threatening nor is his behavious, However you know him to be a sinister quite sly character and highly suspect the only reason he made the comment was to indirectly threaten you. What would you do?
