You are visiting a family member one evening, whilst sitting down with a cup of tea, you hear the neighbours getting into a heated argument. You are informed by your family member that it is the 40 year old female house owner and her 18 year old son, your family member says not to worry about it as it happens quite often, but it'll soon die down and they'll be best friends again. After about half an hour the argument is still continuing and is starting to intensify, you are getting more worried as the 18 year old male is sounding like the aggressor, what do you do? Do you go and knock on the door, producing a warrant card? Call for back up from local units and wait unti…

MoP calls police to report male seen with handgun. Police officers arrive and locate male matching description. Male searched and no weapons found. Officers suspect male to be involved in making the initial call, believed to be malicious. Male taken back to police station for strip search to locate any further weapons. Whilst the search is underway a mobile phone is found in a the jacket lining. Male confirms the number and the officer confirms it was the phone used to call police earlier. Male is then fully strip searched and asked to squat down etc. Based on the information is this legal? Looking for weapons and asked to squat down? I was told for example you cant searc…

Springfield college started 3 weeks ago. It is a full board college with 12 students living in one flat. The college is known for it's vivid night life and drinking culture. Flat A has 8 of the rooms currently occupied. The rooms are spaced around a spacious kitchen, which also acts as a living room for all the students to congregate in. Bob has just started college and moved in. At first he appeared normal, going out drinking with people in the flat. However, 2 weeks in he started getting into arguments with people. Paul, a fellow student in the flat, started having regular arguments with him and retaliated with swearing. Unknown to the other students at the flat, Bob…

So... Paul and Shirley are husband and wife. They go to bed one night at 10pm and Shirley says to Paul "fancy a shag?" and Paul replies "no sorry I'm very tired after work, definitely not now but maybe in the morning. Sorry but I just can't do it right now". Paul is soon snoring and Shirley is laying there frustrated. She knows that Paul doesn't want sex but she thinks that she might be able to 'persuade' him and change his mind by performing fellatio on him whilst he is asleep. She gets to work and after a few minutes Paul wakes up. He is very angry and says "I told you NO!". Paul's penis remains flaccid throughout. The offences committed here by Shirley here are…

Here's one to get the old grey matter working, let me know what you think. You are working in a large factory that has security detail on the entry and exit points for vehicles. Security is SIA licenced and is a private well known contractor. They control the gates to open or close to allow traffic in and traffic out of the premises. At shift change over time, security allows the traffic in, but close the traffic out gate and conduct random vehicle searches of X amount of cars daily, but only search the boot of the vehicles. Your car has been 'choosen' as the next random search, you are 'required' to fill your details on a clipboard that has been handed to you whilst t…

Howdy, Was thinking about this earlier. It's 2 am and you stop and search someone, grounds permitting. It's a negative result and they have no ID on them but you discover an electronic tag (with SERCO) written on it. You ask them if they're on a curfew. They refuse to speak to you and provide no details of who they are. Is it reasonable to suspect they are on curfew and are likely to be in breach? Would you arrest them? Does this change at 1) 6pm 2) 7pm 3) 8pm Thoughts? TT

Disclaimer noted. You're on uniformed patrol in a marked transit. A car runs a red light in front of you, you stop the vehicle compliantly. The driver admits the offence, however, on checking the rear seats you find 3 children, aged between 9 and 11 all sat with no seatbelts on. The driver is not their father, however their mother is sat in the passenger seats. After caution, the driver states that 'I know they should have them on but they're not mine, their mother should have checked, I'm sorry'. How do you proceed?

Every now and then I have been to an event where they are released helium balloons into the sky for some cause or another. Is this legal? Do the organisers have to obtain permission etc?

Hi all first post in the forum but been reading for a while. So I applied to be special a couple of years ago and got declined but I have just started to try again (posted the application just over a week ago). So to get to the why I'm posting I was doing some work outside my girlfriends house on her brothers car this afternoon when a police car starts driving round. Not unusual as it's not the best of areas. Soon there is police everywhere and we get asked have you seen a bloke running in grey shorts and a red top "No officer but I'll let you know if we do" They then leave to carry on their search. We get asked this a couple of times but have no informa…

From college I used to be friends with people who now often use and abuse drugs, all sorts. I haven't been around them since the application process really as I thought I best keep my distance and not mix with them. These friends ask to 'hang out' or go down the pub or whatever and you see the drugs and they start using, what do you do? Bare in mind you have known them since school and have a great relationship with them since. I'm not even started training yet so it's just a worry at the moment.

The other day I was driving along a 50MPH road and I noticed at the junction ahead that their was a vehicle with a lot of white/grey smoke coming from underneath the wheels. As I was approaching the junction the car was still not moving until I was around 20/30 feet away when it drifted in front of me into the other lane. I caught a glimpse of the driver and not surprisingly he was a young lad around my age and had at least 2 other young passengers. They had obviously waited for me to near them so they could try and scare me by pulling out at the last second and forcing me and the two or three others cars behind me to break then drive through thick smoke. I just continue…

Here's one that might start a bit of debate.... (not a real scenario as far as I am aware) Person A and person B have gone to the pub together, person A is driving, and is therefore drinking Coke (other soft drinks are available) When person A goes to the bar, he buys a Coke (for himself) and a pint of lager for his mate (person B). However, when person B goes to the bar, he buys a Coke, a double vodka, and a pint of lager. And then tips the vodka into the Coke. This is done without the knowledge of person A. After, lets say 6 rounds of drinks (3 rounds each) Person A has consumed 6 pints of Coke, and 3 double vodkas (the latter without his knowledge), while person B …

You are called to a domestic where shouting and arguing can be heard from neighbours. Upon arrival, you find an adult male/ female arguing with someone who appears to be a teenager. You identify that the adult male/ female is the father/ mother of the young person who is 14 years old. The parent does not want their child in the house anymore and asks you to escort them off the premises (which is their home). What do you do? Can you legally remove them?

I am aware of the case where someone who flashed their headlights to warn on coming traffic about a speed camera and was found to be obstructing an officer so how about the case where there is a mobile speed camera on a particular road and someone posts on twitter/facebook in a public section that there is a camera on that road and everyone to watch out for it, is that obstruction?

Hyperthetically, how would you react and see this situation: You are off duty driving to your civilian job at about 3pm, up ahead traffic is slowing due to 3 lanes merging into one at some road works. A BMW races up the inside lane and without waiting or indicating shunts himself infront of the car infront of you causing him to anchor up and causing an extremely near multi car accident. The two cars in front now can't move and you can tell something is going to go wrong. The driver of the car in front gets out of the car holding what appears to be a rubber object of some kind and starts screaming at the driver of the BMW who has almost caused the accident whilst proceedi…
