I work at a popular London Airport for a very orange airline. And before you ask... they have (thank goodness) ditched the orange uniforms so no i do not have to wear one! Last week there was an incident where at the boarding gate (airside) a women had been asked to combine her 2 handbags into 1 such is our policy. She had kicked off at this and had raised her fist to strike a member of staff, fortunatly a quick thinking member of the public jumped in and restrained her before she had a chance to make contact. However the women was kicking and struggling. Police were called however as the majority of them stay landside they took a good 20 minutes to get over. They issu…

Playing Saturday league amateur football you meet some interesting characters. Played tonight where there was nearly a incident whereby 2 players came to blows (fortunately the 2 saw sense). Now if there was a incident whereby one player didnt take too kindly to being tackled and retaliated by punching the player (can be face or body)........what would your reaction be? Also the majority, if not all your team/management would know you were a special constable and may be aware of your off duty powers and are expecting you to intervene in someway. Also in this situation you are playing in a away game, in what is a hostile environment, which is known to you as you have d…

I was thinking of upgrading my mobile phone when I started thinking about the increased risk of theft/robbery from flashing a La-de-da phone around in public. Scenario: Special Constable Whoever is robbed of their mobile phone whilst off-duty one night. They then report the offence but know that the chances of finding the culprit are low because there are no other witnesses or CCTV evidence etc.. A few months/a year later, Special Constable Whoever is on patrol and, by chance, recognises the culprit on the street. Questions: 1. Can SC Whoever arrest the culprit on the grounds of his own positive identification? 2. Is there a difference in E&W/Scots law in this …

Hi all, Here a scenario that thought of after dealing with something similar not too long ago. Person A has been in relationship with Person B. They have recently gone through a relationship breakdown resulting in Person A taking Person B's belongings and items to them as a result of the split. Whilst at this "meeting" they get into a arguement over who owns and pays for a mobile phone they both used, resulting in A taking the sim card *as contract is in their name* and leaving B with the handset itself. A few hours later person A receives a text from person B that intimates some interference with A's *myspace* account, something along the lines of "ha ha ha you have…

Danny is 18 and lives in a council flat. He is unemployed and apart from benefit, has no legitimate income. Danny is also a drug dealer, who sells cannabis to make money. Danny has been arrested several times, but only ever charged with possession. Danny is walking home one day, when he is stopped by PC Smith. PC Smith smells cannabis and searches Danny. Danny has no drugs on his person, but has £450 pounds in assorted notes of diffrent denominations. Danny says that he has saved the money, but PC Smith is sceptical as he knows Danny is of limited finanical means and has seen police inteligence indicating that Danny is selling drugs. PC Smith knows that for civil sei…

My scenario is in regards to this new item http://www.kable.co....canners-20jul10 If the suspects declines to have their prints checked at the side of the road, what would/ could you do about it I'm working on the assumption there is no combination of laws which allows suspect not to give their name but requires them to give their prints ?and that they are not under arrest

Just thought of this on my way back from starbucks... What if you're waiting at a roundabout (or junction etc) at a red light. It goes to amber then green at which point a car comes through the lights to your right which should be red as yours are now green, however you cannot see them. Now obviously the lights would have gone to red for this vehicle as yours are now green and as such they would have jumped the light. On pulling them over they claim it was still amber or that it was green and there must have been a fault with the lights. No other cars or witnesses around and it was impossible from your view point to see what colour the lights were for this person. e…

Not sure if this has been posted before, but what would you do if you were on shift where you work and somebody comimits a criminal offence. Working in the leisure industry I have had situations in the past where people have decided to go for a naked swim in the swimming pool with parents and children on pool side at the same time and multiple times where people have gained entry into the club through the back door and not paying i.e. tresspassing on private property. Obviously this is during aworking day so do you have the power to arrest or would you need to call either an emergency or non emergency number? Not sure if this is a debatable subject, but as mentioned above…

Mr Smith is an unemployed single male in his late 30's who still lives at home with his Mother and her her goldfish, Bruno. He enjoys watching late night police action programs, so much infact that he decided that's what he wants to do with his life. The next morning he goes out and buys some blue LED lights to fit behind the grill of his car, along with some two-tones to assist with his "duties". He phones his best friend, Mr Jones, whom he informs of his plans to go out later that night and pull over cars who are breaking traffic laws, in an attempt to do good for the community. Mr Jones informs Mr Smith that this is highly illegal, as blue lights are only permitte…

Howdy guys! A very nice friend of mine who was born with only one arm asked me this after watching an episode of Traffic Cops. What would happen to her if someone tried to cuff her? Or indeed anyone else with a corresponding limb to apply the other cuff too! I told her someone would probably put her into an arm lock or something, but I wasn't sure. So.. What would happen?

For this scenario, imagine the following: You've arrested someone for posession of Class A drugs, but they seem extremely agitated, and you suspect that they might be suffering from mental health issues. In their ramblings, they mumble something about 'they knew it' and 'the police will be in for a surprise'. You're about to do a Section 19 search of their property, but their comments are nagging you. You think that perhaps the house might be boobietrapped - whether that means cups of chemicals hidden in cupboards, explosives, or razors sown into the underside of sofa cushions or similar... What do you do? Who would you tell, and who would you call for backup to do t…
