A is a black person. B is a white person. A and B are known to each other following an ongoing neighbour dispute about noise. One afternoon B is making a lot of noise in their house. A short time later A and B bump into each other in the public area outside the front of their houses. A says to B "Why can't you keep the noise down?". B replies "I can do what I like in my country". A calls the Police, believing it to be racial abuse and stating that they believe B has used those exact words because they are black and B would not have used that term to a white person. Have any offences been comitted?

Whilst at work today, my 10 year old daughter rang up, sobbing, saying my 6 year old son had got hold of her facebook password, logged into "Habbo Hotel", a virtual world and stolen all the furniture from one of her rooms Now whilst these objects do not actually exist, they can take many hours off mouse clicking to acquire, indeed some can be even bought for money. Now whilst my daughter is not going to report her younger brother to the police for theft, what would you do if such as accusation was made to you whilst on duty

Based on a true story... While crawling through Facebook (yes, they actually do this, according to the officer involved) the police find the address of a house where, while his parents are away, a 17-year-old boy is having a party. More than two hundred people are said to be attending - and that's only of those invited. Rumours are that gatecrashers will also be arriving. Two officers arrive at the house and speak with the boy. His parents have allowed him to have the party while they are away. The officers do not have any sort of warrants to enforce. Is the boy within his rights to refuse the officers permission to enter his property? Could the officers close dow…

No specific senario but made up as follows. Special constable working in retail store (hyperthetically an electrical store). MoP steals product, either instigating alarm at point of display or consealment then activates alarm due to hidden security tag. Stop and question done by means of special being MoP too,(civil, ie "can you accomany me back to etc etc..."). If with another member of staff if toe said "thief" kicks off or becomes a handfull, what do you do... arrest as a special with evidence x 2 corroborating in Scotland) and pass to regulars on attendance or do you keep out of it, except as a solid witness?. We are frequently under pressure for security in retail,…

Putting it plainly, i was walking down the street the other day and saw a family walking the opposite way, and then pass me. As i turned around to glance behind, i saw the father smack his son round the head as the son had done something wrong (i don't know what though, it had happened before i'd turned.) So my questions are : What would you do, if you saw that happen? Is there anything an officer can do?

So your sitting in a cafe... and suddenly a person approaches you and your friends in a jokely manner and pretends to pour water on your mate. Another friend grabs the bottle of water from the persons hand and then it gets heated. The 'attacker' then becomes very hostile. Would you flash your badge before anything major kicks off to warn the attacker and his friends that if the badger holder gets attacked then that is an assault on a officer. What would other special constables do?

Hello all, This happened about 21:00 hours. This is a real scenario, I was just wondering what you would of done in these circumstances. I'm a Special and was at my normal job getting ready to leave and I smelt something burning and i headed downstairs and as I stepped outside the building, the shop next door was on fire really badly. There were people shouting if anyone is inside and trying to break the windows on the flats above by throwing what ever they could get their hands on, the first thing I did was dial 999 and ask for fire police and ambulance because there could be people inside. I told people to get as far back as possible and to stop throwing things at t…

A police officer on duty finds an expensive but well worn watch (say £500) with a broken clasp on the side of a busy pavement. There is no one stood around waiting for a bus etc to try to establish ownership from, just a considerable number of people walking quickly past. He records the find in his pocket book and returns to the police station where he makes substantive enquiries to see whether a watch has been reported stolen or lost but with no trace. The property is booked in to the property store with the officer as the finder. Over the six weeks, the officer and colleagues continue to look for reports of a watch having been stolen or reported missing and make enqu…

Just wanting some advice regarding a question that I was asked from a friend who is a PCSO with a local police force regarding Stops and PNC checks. Whilst out on foot patrol on the local area was approached by a member of public (not previously known to the PCSO) who advised that a male who was nearby was ‘wanted on warrant for an offence’. Rather than approaching the possible ‘wanted’ male, my friend took the details of the informant and went back to the office to make enquiries on local systems. Could a serving officer advise in their opinion the best way to deal with it/ if any powers to stop and carry out PNC checks exsist? If so what powers? Could the P…

Barry thinks of a nice little earner.... He prints out dozens of official-looking traffic tickets titled "charge notice". He then distributes them onto car windscreens with no authority whatsoever. The "charge notices" do not make any demands, however, they say: £30 parking charge notice. Please send a cheque or postal order for £30 to PObox123 AB18 C20 within 28 days. Failiure to do this may result in Barry's Parking Inc. pursuing civil litigation against you. Barry makes no threats etc. and does not claim to have any particular legal authority to distribbute these tickets. He has no intention of pursing civil litigation - he just believes on the law of averages enou…

Say you were knocking on someone's door - they open the door, but then someone comes running at you with the intent of harming you (visible through their facial expressions, body language, etc). Through using your DST you are able to stop the person before any assault takes place on yourself - i.e. you may knock them to the ground before they make contact with you. You then apply cuffs and arrest them for... what? What is the offence here? Am I missing something glaringly obvious?

Hi Sorry if this topic has been posted before. I work for a football ground, and we have Road Closures that get put up before and after the match, due to people walking down the roadway. I need to know what the law is on Emergency Vehicles, are we allowed to stop them coming through, or would this lead to obstruction. The reason I ask if the Football ground has instructed us to not allow anyone thru regardless of Blue & Twos, unless they are told they are coming. Can somebody help with this please... any docs would also be welcomed. Thanks.
