Hi, I’m a newbie here so thought I would introduce myself properly. I will soon be handing in my application form for Fife Police but want to do all my homework first – so please prepare for a host of questions! I am a woman in my mid twenties, with a BSc in Psychology. I have wanted to become a police constable for many years but wanted to take on the challenge of university first. I now feel that I am mature enough to pursue my desired career and I am very excited about it all! I look forward to speaking to you all at some point in the future!

Hi, I have already introduced myself previously but was not sure where to post this topic so I stuck here . I am doing my first night shift on Tuesday. I have never worked a night shift in any of my previous jobs and I know it will take a lot of getting used to. I would be grateful for any tips on how to deal with it. A mate of mine said that after a day shift if he had nights the following night, he would stay up all night and sleep all the next day. I'll give that a go but to be honest Im not sure I could manage to stay awake for that long. When I am tired enough I could sleep on a washing line but obviously I dont want to fall asleep on the job, so to speak *ahem*…

Hi All, I'm a serving Special with West Yorks Police. I joined in 1998 and posted to AA. I transferred for a while to HD, and returned to work from AA, and recently transferred to NWL outer. I've witnessed loads of changes in relation to how Specials are deployed and the variety of postings held by other Specials, and am interested in how this differs between Force areas and Divisions. I work full-time and am married with a young family. I've travelled the uk through work, and am lucky to live only a short distance from the peace of the Yorkshire Dales. So.. Hi There to all those other new and regular members, I look forward to your future comments/posts with interest…

Hi ladies and gents Just a quick hello to introduce myself, I havn't been in the job for long and I find this forum a great way to ask stupid questions I wouldn't embarrass myself with at work, like ...... Does my butt look big in this? and, Can c.s really be a good ingredient in curry? Answers on a postcard...... Don't be shy, say hi, and I look forward to learning the finer points of modern policing. :boxing:

Has anyone else here just applied for the GMP? Seems there’s a few on here that have taken over a year to get in and I could do with some knowledge on how long it takes!!!! I know they must vary it with there dates, they did say that they were recruiting again later in the year, but they have 3 intake dates (according to someone else on here) over Oct-Mar 08/09. Also wondering if your score / background make a difference. E.g. does ex forces or language specialists move on up quicker? Any help??!!!
