Just wanted to say hello! Not in the job, but partner of one of the brave and true. Would swim through treacle to support him in his chosen career, but often excluded, protected whatever you want to call it. Just trying to get an insight and possibly some support/advice. Can be a little lonely out here sometimes, but he's worth it!!

It's nice to say hello! I've found this forum through Google, it's really helpful and good to know that there is more people like me... Applied to MET in January and because of some problems in Hendon I only got my Day 1 date recently. As the day approaches I'm more and more nervous but fingers crossed!

Hi all, I've recently started (May 08) as Force Curator at Grampian Police - I've joined the forum in order to be able to get feedback about people's interest in Police history - including family history, artefacts, famous crimes and the like, all of which comes under the curator's remit. I've come from a library and IT background, currently doing PhD also. My first degree was English & History, so this is a great chance to develop my knowledge of local and national police history. Hoping to get a museum mini-site on our main Force web site. We don't have a museum building! I hope that by taking artefacts to the public to redress this problem, and that one day we h…

Hello all. I am new to this forum but my collar number dried and flaked off long before most of you were born. I joined Lancashire Constabulary as a Police Constable in 1970 at the age of 25 after being a Fire Fighter for 7 years. The 'job' now is unrecogniseable to how it was in the early '70's, but I am disappointed with the lack of contact the Officers now have with the general public. There is too much of a 'them and us' culture now, and there is too little trust between communities and the Officers serving them. Isn't it about time that a concerted effort was made by all forces to get some of that trust back and work together to help reduce the ever growing incide…

Hi, Obviously new to this site and keen to involve myself on here. I am not yet a member of any force although currently undergoing selection for the CNC. I was hoping that someone may be able to point me in the right direction as to getting some tips for the assessment center I have been invited to attend in November. I have read many comments on the pro's and con's of the force on various forums so if you have anything negative to say I would appreciate if you kept it to yourself unless you genuinely feel I need to know something of relevance. I understand that everyone wants to promote and feel proud of their own force.
