Hi New to the site and wonder if anyone can give me an insight on the competencies that will be tested on interview please? Police staff vacancy but understand competencies will be used and I'm finding it hard to think of examples from my everyday life to be prepared. Many thanks

Hi guys, just a quick note to say Hi and a bit about myself. Applied back in Jan. had my Day 1 for the regulars in August. In September I got my result (just piped under MET requirements) so will re-sit in Feb. One quick question, I know a couple of people who didn’t pass first time, but it still dents the pride! Am I right in thinking that its worth persevering or is it the case that if you fail this probably isn’t the job for you? Any suggestions greatly appreciated. Cheers.

Greetings comrades, I'm new to this site and seeking advice in relation to DDA, fairness at work and general bullying from my senior command team and DCC . . . . please don't advise me to use the services of the local fed, 'chocolate fire-guards' - i'd like some proper advice from time served officers. Hopefully someone here can help, because it is really doing my nut in, and my options for hanging around seem pointless, (i've got 11 years to serve before pension). I accept that without the full facts i will probably not receive any advice, but i am to a degree paranoid and reluctant to hang my washing for every man and his dog to chew over, but if any one out there is…

So I thought I'd introduce myself on here. Applied yesterday and am hoping that 10 years of being a chef, as well as travelling around S.E Asia to do a bit of Muay Thai Boxing, will go down well with the assessors. Hope everyone is well.

Hi, I have been reading this forum casually for the past few years and I have decided to post. I have been working in the oil industry on a graduate program for the past year and a half since leaving university and I am considering a career change. One major problem. Over the past year and a half I have recieved 9 points on my licence. 6 points for speeding on a motorway, court appereance 6 points and 600 quid fine and 3 points for speeding on motorway. Both silly things to do I know and what has happened as happened. Would I be wasting my time filling in my application form? Cheers S.

I'm in the process of joinging Kent Police and after seeing that people in other forces on this site have been given rented accomodation when they start up, i was wondering if Kent police also help out with accomodation of housing in any way? I live on the kent sussex border and if i was posted to say, margate, could be a long old trek if i couldn't get set up quickly. Any ideas anyone?

Hello there, I have just applied to be a comms op. I have passed the initial application and have a date for the assessment and interview for the end of October......and I'm really nervous I don't think I would be so worried if I didn't want this position so much. Anyway, hope to be able to come back soon as a member of the support staff! Thanks for reading. Scatiee xx AKA Georgina

First of all, I just like to say hi. I'm Kev from South Yorkshire, I'm not a officer and I'm not training to be in the force (not yet anyway.) At the moment I work as a driving instructor. Reason I'm hear is to ask a few questions surrounding road safety and what can done to improve it. So i'm just going to fire some questions at you. What is your general view of driving instructors? Do you think we do enough to make people drive safely? What do think causes most RTA's? Are there any courses that are run by the police (or any of the emergancy service) that are aimed at improving driver safety? Please excuse any spelling mistakes :) Thank You
