http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-25576180 I must admit I have no idea how much trials normally cost to compare against this, but it doesn't immediately strike me as excessive for someone who committed such a high-profile crime and escaped justice for so long.

A seal was washed into Seaton's beach cafe car park A man has been arrested for being drunk and disorderly after wading into the stormy seas off Newquay early on Saturday morning. Police removed the man from the water shortly after 04:30 GMT and said his actions could have put lives at risk. Across the county, about 65 properties were flooded on Friday night and Looe quay was again left underwater. About 250 homes are without power in the St Keverne area due to the weather. Engineers said repairs were under way. Sea 'very powerful' Sgt Reggie Butler, of Devon and Cornwall Police, said the arrested man was originally spotted on Towan Beach at about 04:30 GMT and spo…

Okay, so I know it's the DM, but was on it looking at the police dog handler couple story and saw this. I couldn't help but laugh a little. The cameras are hardly hidden, and my favourite line of "Penalties can be as high as £130 and only a tiny fraction are quashed on appeal." is brilliant. They fines weren't quashed because they were caught bang to rights on cctv. What did the drivers expect when they challenged the fines? I despair sometimes I really do.

There seem to be an awful lot of police officers that have been in the news, serving and former, who are getting jailed for various sexual offences. These sort of stories really damage the reputation of the police in general because of a few bad apples. :new_no:

It always amazes me how these people get awards when they cannot even do the job properly. Police case began with blunders and ended in ridicule The fiasco of the Paul Burrell trial can be traced directly back to an extraordinary meeting at Highgrove on August 3 last year. Present with Prince Charles in his Gloucestershire home were his son William, several courtiers and two senior Scotland Yard detectives. Commander John Yates and Detective Inspector Maxine de Brunner painted a plausible, and disturbing, picture that strongly suggested 'Diana's rock' had betrayed her. Police could produce evidence that large quantities of Diana's possessions had been sold…
