A Met policeman has admitted misconduct in public office over the "plebgate" affair and is to offer to resign. PC Keith Wallis, 53, admitted falsely claiming to have witnessed a row between then-cabinet minister Andrew Mitchell and police in September 2012. He has been bailed for sentencing on 6 February pending psychiatric reports. Met Commissioner Sir Bernard Hogan-Howe apologised to Mr Mitchell, who said he was pleased "justice had been done" but that unanswered questions remained. Prime Minister David Cameron welcomed the guilty plea but said it was "completely unacceptable for a serving police officer to falsify an account of any incident". http://www.bbc.c…

A man who "persistently" shone a laser beam at a police helicopter as it searched for a high-risk missing person has pleaded guilty to recklessly endangering the aircraft and crew. Kevin Griffiths, 22, of Greenfield, Flintshire, flashed the pen 10 times at the aircraft in eight minutes. Flintshire Magistrates Court heard his actions last September in a populated area could have been disastrous. He was given a five-month suspended sentence and 200 hours unpaid work. The court heard three people were on board the helicopter 1,200 ft (365m) above Greenfield searching for a vulnerable missing person. The pilot had to take evasive action to avoid the beam. The crew locat…

A police officer who was captured on film apparently threatening to make an amateur photographer's day a "living hell" is being investigated. In the footage posted on YouTube, the unidentified officer is heard telling the man "you're lucky I didn't knock you out" before threatening arrest. The man had been taking photographs of a road in Churchdown, Gloucester, following a fatal collision. Gloucestershire Police said a misconduct investigation was under way. A spokesman said the officer had not been suspended and remains on front-line duty. It appears the officer involved has fallen far short of the behaviour expected and required by the Constabulary” http://www.bbc.…

I heard on the news his morning that HMG are to have a trial run on a certain motorway of a 60 MPH speed limit. Apparently, HMG have said that if it were introduced on all m/ways it would assist in the reduction of pollution levels. I wonder if they have a hidden agenda on this subject eg. way way back during the 3 day week, (in the early 70's for you younger ones)a national speed limit of 50 mph was introduced, and that was done in order to preserve fuel. Could it be, I wonder, if the reason of having the 50 speed limit is the same, but we are just not being told that by HMG. Call me cynical if you wish, but stranger things happen at sea. Are there probs. I wonder with o…
