Police dog handlers marry after falling for each other while hunting burglars, armed robbers and a mosque bomber When you're hunting burglars, armed robbers and one or two suspected terrorists, there isn't much time for sentiment. But the rigours of life on the frontline hasn't stopped police dog handlers Damian Smart, 37, and Lindsay Whitehouse, 33, falling in love and tying the knot. The couple, who work together in the West Midlands Police Dog Unit, have now celebrated their marriage in fitting style with their canine companions right by their side. From the front line to down the aisle: Police dog handlers Damian Smart and Lindsay Whitehouse pictured with the…

A police officer who falsely told an alleged rape victim her case had been dropped - leading her to attempt to take her own life - has been jailed for four months. Hannah Notley, 30, of Benfleet, Essex, pleaded guilty to a charge of misconduct in public office. Southwark Crown Court heard Notley told her superiors and the alleged victim prosecutors were not pursuing the case, knowing it had not been passed to them. Notley has since left Essex Police. The alleged victim told the court she lost confidence in the police and tried to take her own life. 'No further action' Prosecutor Zoe Martin told the court Notley, who was based in Rayleigh and trained in handling sexu…

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-25626147 Got to completely agree with the IAM here, one rule for one person and one rule for another! If I had been banned for having 12 points on my licence and Joe Bloggs from Livepool had 45 points on his licence and was still driving around I wouldn't be chuffed.

Just heard on the radio that there needs to be further cuts of 25 billion. Wonder how this is going to affect the emergency services that are already on their knees.

Link The 'top comment' on the website is somewhat naive and lacks an awful lot of common sense, armchair critics commenting on matters they know nothing about. "The police shouldn't be having anything to do with anyone who is mentally ill. The clue is in the title - they are ILL. People with mental illness are just as ill as people with a physical illness; it's just not as visible and is more poorly understood, particularly by the police."

A man was pulled from the sea early on Saturday after ignoring warnings about the fierce storms battering Britain. The man had to be rescued after going for a swim around 3am at Newquay, north Cornwall. He was dragged from the water by police sergeant Reggie Butler and other officers and taken to hospital. Officers secured a line to Sgt Butler, who waded out to pull the man to shore at Towan Beach. Sgt Butler said: “Another minute or 30 seconds and he would have been washed out to sea and the situation could have been tragic. There wasn’t enough time for other emergency rescues services to get there. The casualty was in danger and we had a chance to rescue him. We are …
