This was supposed to be the year of strife, strikes, misery and more. Instead, to the surprise of Britain’s politicians, things have instead gone badly right. 1. Crime With the austerity and the unemployment, internal government reports predicted that Brits would respond by unleashing a crimewave. Instead, recorded crime has fallen to the lowest level in 25 years: 2. Public services People think public services are getting better, in spite of cuts. The doomsayers were wrong – polls show British public servants are doing a great job of doing more with less. 3. Education… The decision to treble tuition fees was predicted to lead to a drop-off of university students. I…

VIDEO IN LINK - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-beds-bucks-herts-25370432 A man who ran through a town centre with a hammer and machete was floored by a policeman's "flying rugby tackle". Anthony Underwood, 27, attacked Bedford police station before scattering shoppers in Midland Road on 11 November. Unarmed sergeant Phil Boyd brought the offender under control. His attack began "completely without warning" at about 12:55 GMT when he smashed in a side door of the police station at Greyfriars. 'Split-second decision' He then ran…

Former Lostprophets frontman Ian Watkins has admitted a string of sex offences, including two charges of attempting to rape a baby. The singer had faced 24 sex-offence charges but pleaded guilty to 11 of them at the last minute, nine of which were unchanged and two of attempted rape of an infant, which were downgraded from actual rape. The charges included sexually touching a one-year-old and encouraging a mother to abuse her own child during a webcam chat. Watkins also admitted possessing and making child abuse images as well as being behind the plot to rape the child. Watkins, 36, from Pontypridd, south Wales, insisted he had no memory of what would have been key vid…

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-24859780 So you get to nominate your home as your usual place of work, and then you get to claim for going anywhere other than home... for example, to your office at Headquarters? What a joke... all aboard the gravy-train, just as we anticipated. Hunstanton has to be the most furthest-away location in the county from Norfolk's headquarters!

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-25468286 I'm sure that many of us remember this incident and the horrible injuries caused by the dog. The owner has now appealed against his 22 month sentence for breaching the dangerous dogs act due to ' the "unforeseen actions" of police were to blame for the incident.' To me this means that any nasty criminal can keep a dangerous dog at home and set it on the police then use the defence of a fine upstanding citizen by saying that if the police had asked nicely I would have let them in. If police force entry and the dog attacks them then it looks as if we are to blame rather than the owner!

Two senior Northern Ireland policeman were murdered by the IRA following a tip-off to the terrorists from the Irish police, an inquiry has found. Chief Superintendent Harry Breen and Superintendent Bob Buchanan were gunned down on March 20 1989 near the border in south Armagh shortly after a meeting in Dundalk Garda station. Inquiry chief Judge Peter Smithwick said he was ‘satisfied there was collusion in the murders’. The inquiry found an unidentified IRA mole leaked information about the movements of Mr Breen and Mr Buchanan on the day they were killed. No direct evidence of collusion was uncovered. The IRA are thought to have been tipped off at about 11.30 on the …
