Four Lancashire Constabulary officers sacked for gross misconduct after details of car buying scam emerges. Date - 10th December 2013 By - Jasmin McDermott - Police Oracle Four officers have been dismissed for their part in a scam to order specialist police cars that they later bought at a heavily reduced rate. The Lancashire Constabulary chief inspector, detective inspector, detective sergeant and detective constable have been sacked from the force after being found guilty of gross misconduct by a misconduct panel. A somewhat bizarre case at first glance. He uploads a video of him having sex with a sleeping female (normally an offence) onto Facebook and gets charged with rape after a complaint from the female. I'm assuming they've had a previous relationship of sorts as the article says he had a video on his phone of a previous 'encounter', i.e. the jury may believe that she may have consented. However this AFAIK doesn't extend to when the 'victim' is asleep unless explicitly consented to (e.g. you may 'have me' when I'm asleep). He then gets remanded for JUST two weeks before going to court. That's a pretty quick listing for trial. It really does sound like there's more to this …

Student demonstration against police on campus has been labelled a ‘national day of action’. Photograph: Alamy Students across the country are expected to take part in a mass demonstration against police presence on campuses on Wednesday afternoon. The protest, which has close to 2,400 attendees on its Facebook page, is planned for 2pm at the University of London Union (ULU), and demonstrations will take place on other campuses around the UK.
