http://m.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-25411180 The College of Policing is reviewing its training to try to prevent more people dying in police custody in England and Wales, the BBC has learned. It will be looking into areas such as how and when people should be restrained and how to deal with those who have mental health problems. Nearly 1,000 people have died in police custody over the past 20 years. The Police Federation said dealing with people in custody can be challenging, particularly when they are violent. That threat needs to be tackled immediately, said the organisation which represents rank-and-file officers. 'Unsuitable force' The College of Policing told the BBC t…

Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) are a uniformed and highly visible presence who perform a patrolling role to provide reassurance to the communities they serve. Volunteer PCSOs will support PCSOs in their role. This is a new role being pioneered by Lincolnshire Police looking to have volunteers with the same powers as PCSOs. The volunteer PCSO will provide an additional highly visible uniformed presence supporting local policing teams and providing reassurance by dealing with the things that matter to local communities, but on a voluntary basis. As a Volunteer PCSO your role will be varied but will include: Giving advice and reassurance to victims and witnes…

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-25223631 Seems like they are going ahead of it: I don't think that they realise that the paper disc is a great way of seeing if a car is legally taxed without having to look at a computer system.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2524344/Now-police-fly-tell-Romanians-Dont-come-Britain-commit-crime-Officers-unprecedented-trip-try-stem-flow-migrants.html-- I wonder how much this bright idea cost, do they really think any of them will listen to what they are told. Romania says it has one of the lowest crime rates in the EU, thats probably because they come here and commit crime, therefore pushing up our crime rates. Reading the figures gives some depressing reading. Last year, Romanians accounted for nearly half of all arrests for begging in the capital and 34 per cent of pickpocketing arrests.

TWO yobs who waved blades as they attempted to steal an off-duty officer's car were arrested shortly after their botched heist and will be sentenced in the new year. Thomas Stewart along with Kieran McCusker tried to hijack an off-duty policeman's car. TWO bungling thugs who tried to hijack an off-duty policeman’s car at knifepoint are facing jail. Thomas Stewart, 20, and Kieran McCusker, 17, were chased off by PC Ryan Cairney after their failed heist. Brave Ryan, 26, was in Bellshill, Lanarkshire, with his friend Eilidh Campbell, 22, in the early hours of August 31. The pair were chatting when Stewart opened Ryan’s door and held a 12in kitchen knife at his thr…

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2521200/Woman-teacher-27-half-naked-pupil-17-struck-2-years.html If this was a cop and a 'customer', they would be looking at prison for misconduct and struck off for life by the college. I'm not saying I agree with either scenario, just seems a bit unfair. Oh, and is it just me, or has the number of stories about cops going to prison or getting potted for gross misconduct gone sky high?

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-25176554 Hang on a minute. I agree victims should be encouraged to come forward, and warn that conviction is fraught with difficulties, but just how exactly should the police "prevent" rape? Surely that's a societal thing where education like the advert on the TV a while back change people's attitudes?
