With the PCC's bedding down and coming up with some very interesting ideas of how to solve crime i thought we could have a thread to list them as the come in and so we can praise or deride them, whichever is more appropriate. 3 of note, with the assistance of Kenworthy http://www.northampt...reets-1-4521132 Doctor Who-style police boxes could return to Northamptonshire’s streets as part of an initiative launched by the county’s new police commissioner.Adam Simmonds, who won the Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) election last week, said he would like to bring back ‘Tardises’ to the county as part of an initiative to boost police presence. http://www.thisissta...tail/…

Watching the news on tv this morning and the top story on the list they announce at the start of the programme "Police Officer has been charged with rape and blackmail". When the actual item is covered, the newsreader starts with " A police community support officer has been charged with rape and blackmail offences in London." ( Story here http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-25694956 ) I retired the year after PCSO's were 'invented' and then they were uniformed civilians, not attested police officers. Has that changed? When I was in the job, 'Police' magazine used to run competitions where stories from media outlets were published with the most tenuous links…

A Met officer has resigned after being convicted of punching a bouncer in the face and telling him to “go back where he came from”. PC James Balneaves was involved in the drunken episode in October while off-duty. At Westminster Magistrates’ Court he was fined £750 and ordered to pay £600 compensation as well as costs. He had previously admitted racially aggravated common assault. Following the sentence, the Met confirmed he had resigned from his post. He is currently on restricted duties and will now leave the force on January 11, a spokesman told PoliceOracle.com. The court had heard how PC Balneaves was with a female friend and produced his warrant card when th…

A Met policeman has admitted misconduct in public office over the "plebgate" affair and is to offer to resign. PC Keith Wallis, 53, admitted falsely claiming to have witnessed a row between then-cabinet minister Andrew Mitchell and police in September 2012. He has been bailed for sentencing on 6 February pending psychiatric reports. Met Commissioner Sir Bernard Hogan-Howe apologised to Mr Mitchell, who said he was pleased "justice had been done" but that unanswered questions remained. Prime Minister David Cameron welcomed the guilty plea but said it was "completely unacceptable for a serving police officer to falsify an account of any incident". http://www.bbc.c…
