http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/politics/nick-clegg/10857946/Vince-Cable-accused-of-plot-to-oust-Nick-Clegg.html If Clegg gets pushed (very little chance of him doing the honourable thing), will the Condem pact collapse? If it does, will they have the spine to call an election, considering the shoeing they just took? The only hope the liberals have is to put as much distance between them and clegg's Tory pals, otherwise they are in real danger of becoming the fourth party in British politics.

http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/2014/05/16/nigel-farage-ukip-lbc-interview-video_n_5336322.html?&ir=UK Oh dear. Reminiscent of the Chloe Smith interview by Paxman, which is conveniently below! Farage had a hard time on this, not helped by one of his cronies butting in.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-surrey-27616990 About 500 jobs could go at Surrey Police due to budget cuts, the county's Police and Crime Commissioner says. Kevin Hurley said the force would have to save £30m out of its £200m budget, with wages forming a large part. The former chief superintendent said the force had already closed "most" of its police stations to "make the books balance". A Home Office spokeswoman said the force would still have the resources it needs. According to my wickisources Surrey have 1974 officers. So losing 500, thats pretty apocalyptic. But as the home office say the force will have the resources it needs. If they can police more …

Words of advice? How dare they have a bit of fun? I can't imagine Theresa May will be content with that. Get the IPCC on it I say, take their pensions too! http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-essex-27518279

heresa May addresses the Police Federation's conference in Bournemouth. Photograph: Andrew Winning/Reuters As a retired chief constable from the 1980s I can understand Martin Kettle's comments about the Thatcher years (Theresa May has ripped up the Tory pact with the police, 22 May). This period should be judged, however, with an understanding of the criticism the police faced for failing to uphold the law at the Saltley Coke Works in Birmingham in the 70s. The then chief constable ordered the closure of the gates at Saltley in the face of concerted union action as he believed this was in the best interests of public order. He was roundly condemned for giving in to the m…

An MSP has raised concerns about armed officers supporting colleagues on routine duties such as dispersing late night crowds leaving pubs and clubs. John Finnie said officers were regularly carrying handguns, including in the Highlands and Islands, an area dubbed one of the safest in the UK. Police Scotland said armed response officers have been "routinely armed" since the launch of the force in 2013. A senior officer said they had a role in keeping people safe. Independent Highlands and Islands MSP and former police officer Mr Finnie said he was "concerned greatly" by the situation. He said before the launch of the new single police force in April last year, armed o…
