A MAN has been jailed for ten years after hitting a police officer several times over the head with a baton. Following a five-day trial, Ross McPherson, of Teville Road, Worthing, was found guilty of attempted grievous bodily harm with intent and affray. After the attack, McPherson then chased the officer up the street with the baton. Woolwich Crown Court heard that there was a joint operation being carried out between Sussex Police and British Transport Police into bike thefts and drug crimes around Worthing railway station. During a routine check on December 4 last year, McPherson was stopped but became verbally abusive and threatening towards three poli…

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-27783331 Seems quite hypocritical when only last week they loaded the Queen's speech full of political propaganda. I think this reaction suggests it has hit a raw nerve.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-27774455 I wonder how many currently receive the maximum fine for their particular offence? I would imagine that its very few people so if that's the case what is the point of increasing them by 300% if it will affect a tiny number of offenders? This high profile proposal therefore seems completely pointless other than to make the government look good and to be seen to be tough on crime. Its a cheap measure as it costs nothing at a time when HMG is closing prisons to save money and promoting greater use of cheap community sentences.

Various twitter updates seem to be reporting news of a Met Area car having a collision with a motorbike in East London. Developing news and HEMS appears to be on scene so must be quite nasty. https://twitter.com/specialist0027/status/474532994808840193/photo/1 Thoughts to all involved.

Source: http://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/duty-Humberside-Police-officer-s-uniform-stolen/story-21146628-detail/story.html#8yYWuSqdxYhDU7St.99 So recently, a Special from Humberside Police had their uniform stolen from their car whilst off duty. The article says "She confirmed an investigation is under way into why the officer had taken the items home, which is not permitted". I am aware that CS/PAVA must not be taken away home, however this refers to the officer's general uniform including their stab vest and says that it is not permitted. Perhaps this does vary from force to force but surely everyone is allowed to take their uniform home? I know there has been a di…

http://www.theguardian.com/politics/2014/jun/08/labour-accuses-theresa-may-michael-gove-row Started another thread as the old seems to have mysteriously disappeared. TM, breaking a code of ethics??? Surely not??? Especially after her sanctimonious, poisonous verbal slagging she gave the police???!! Why, that would mean that she is a duplicitous, manipulative and ethically corrupt individual, within the conservatives. That can't be the case can it?
