http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-28077586 The news story isn't the main issue for me but what does amuse me is that MPs want to name and shame Drs for poor work, but what I'd like to see MPs naming other MPs for poor work, i.e. not making speeches in parliament, never tabling questions, not have constituency surgeries, over claiming on expenses etc. At the moment its looking like a do as I say policy not do as I do.

Savile has been mentioned in several threads, so to avoid having yet another one for him, I've moved all the posts above mine to the following thread and I will lock this new one. Please don't start new topics, when there are clearly topics on the same subject existing already. http://www.policeuk.com/forum/index.php?/topic/17264-sir-jimmy-saville/?hl=savile#entry490541

The Independent Police Complaints Commission has criticised the 'unacceptable' behaviour of officers who were supposed to be keeping a watch on Lloyd Butler Police officers and staff "disregarded human decency" in their treatment of a father who died in custody as they visited adult websites, a scathing report revealed. The Independent Police Complaints Commission highlighted an "alarming" number of mistakes and "unacceptable" behaviour by officers in the case of Lloyd Butler. The watchdog's report was published after an inquest jury watched CCTV footage of officers laughing, joking and swearing while they were supposed to be keeping a "constant watch" on Mr Butler. T…

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/politics/ed-miliband/10913237/Labour-considers-2-billion-tax-raid-on-pensions.html This is an interesting article. The concept is nothing new, in fact it was floated last July by some think tank however it doesn't really fit in with the Tories ideology, not being into taxation, so they dismissed it. However Ed Millibland seems to have taken this on a step further and 'warmly endorsed' it. Whilst he is never going to come out and say that he is going to implement it; 11 months before an election, it's definitely something to watch and to take into consideration.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/law-and-order/10909311/Disgraced-MP-Mike-Hancock-apologises-for-degrading-relationship-with-constituent.html So, a Condem MP identifies and targets a vulnerable female, using his position to instigate a "relationship". Maybe I'm wrong here, but isn't he in a public office and wouldn't his behaviour constitute misconduct in said office? Haven't those police officers who engaged in such behaviour, found themselves in receipt of some serious jail time, and rightly so? Shouldn't we expect those same standards to apply to MPs. Or am I just a naive plod, who believes that all are equal in the eyes of the law?

By Cliff Caswell -Labour will seek to cut the number of forces in England and Wales if it wins the next general elected to free up cash to bolster neighbourhood policing. Addressing the ACPO conference in Harrogate, Shadow Policing Minister Jack Dromey told delegates that there would be less than 43 forces by the end of the party’s five-year term. He also hinted Labour could abolish police and crime commissioners and introduce a new form of governance – although he stopped short of committing to the proposal. Mr Dromey said: “It is a nonsense to continue with 43 separate forces in England and Wales – it has been said to me time and time again that it is the …
