A POLICE car smashed into a lamp post during a high-speed chase connected to a £100,000 gun theft. A man sparked the pursuit after he fled following a series of early morning raids in Southend and Benfleet aimed at tracking down shotguns and rifles. Fourteen people have now been arrested in connection with the theft. Three men aged 30, 33 and 34 and a 20-year-old woman were the latest to be arrested. The arrests come after officers raided every flat in Poole House, Godman Road, Chadwell St Mary, as reported in last weeks Gazette. Police are still hunting for the majority of the guns, having so far recovered just a handful of them. Four people have already appeared…

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-27313500 I wonder how this will pan out? How does anyone who is already in one of the areas they are trialling this feel? Is this a good or bad thing or is this just thought of as an arse covering excerise?

A call handler who leaked information about the hunt for police killer Dale Cregan has been sacked by Greater Manchester Police (GMP). Kathryn Smith, 25, was cleared of misconduct in a public office in February at Manchester Crown Court. But a GMP statement said Ms Smith's actions "fell far below the standards" it expected from staff. Cregan was jailed last June for four murders, including those of PCs Fiona Bone and Nicola Hughes. Ms Smith, whose father is a police inspector, was cleared of looking for and disclosing information. Her boyfriend Sean Booth, 31, and Cregan's mother Anita, were acquitted of aiding and abetting her to offend. GMP said: "While the court fo…

So here it is. Thought that as I keep spouting on about tax avoidance and tax evasion on other threads I thought I would start a one on its own. So to start - let us look at the one in the headlines today - Gary Barlow - friend of DC - calls for him to have his OBE rescinded - DC states no. To be honest I agree with him on this as the OBE was for services and not for paying taxes. Danny Alexander, the Liberal Democrat chief secretary to the Treasury, said: “People who don’t pay the taxes that they should undermine the economy, damage our public services and place an extra, unfair burden on hard-working families and companies who play by the rules.” Even though…

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-south-yorkshire-27327658 What a stupid woman to make calls who threatened to blow up every police station in Sheffield in a series of hoax calls and every police station in Sheffield and also in the homes and cars of police officers.

Another example in a long history of racist behaviour. The bloke is not funny, he is a disgusting racist. FFS (excuse my anger), it's 2014, who do the BBC think they are standing by such an ignorant and spiteful man. ITV dealt swiftly with Ron Atkinson, shame on you BBC and shame on you Jeremy Clarkson. Apology not accepted.

http://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2014/may/08/police-london-issued-body-worn-cameras Davis thinks that if police don't use headcam when interacting with the public then there should be an automatic presumption that the police are lying and the MOP is telling the truth should a complaint arise. By saying that he has shown that he is a plonker of a highest order. Its also worth looking at the reader's comments. To be fair there are some balanced comments along with some right fruit loops such as the ones who want police to use headcam every minute they are on duty, so presumably in the toilet, when having some banter with coleagues, or when talking to a MOP who wa…

I cannot believe we are sleepwalking into letting one of the country's finest companies fall into the hands of a predator, who is likely to asset strip it's best bits and reduce the knowledge base of the UK, in an area where we are still a leading global player. I truly support foreign investment in the UK, but this is not investment, it is a purchase of knowledge and expertise which after a few years will be assimilated into the main US R&D arm of the company, and the UK side will be reduced down. Shareholders will demand a return on their investment, so merging both R&D departments into one will happen at some juncture. Do you think an American drugs company …
