Met Police has 'culture of fear', officers say The report includes criticism that officers are regularly "named and shamed with a league table" There is a "culture of fear" in the Metropolitan Police because of the "draconian" use of performance targets, a report into the force has said. It calls some targets "meaningless" and "unrealistic" - and says others are "disguised" by senior officers. The report was compiled by the Met Police Federation from interviews and surveys with 250 officers. Scotland Yard denied claims of a "bullying culture" and said it made "no excuses" for valuing performance. John Tully, chairman of the Metropolitan Police Federation, said th…

There is a gallery of images on the mirror site, including one where you can see someone taking what appears to be a swing at an officer on the pitch.

News coming in that a police officer in Redbridge has been run over and has sustained serious injuries. There's currently one under arrest for attempted murder. Little information at this time but I'll post the full story when I find it.

Mav, I've moved your post into a previous thread created by you when it was first published that Constance Briscoe was due to appear in court. You can find it here... http://www.policeuk.com/forum/index.php?/topic/18144-judge-in-court/?hl=briscoe I'll close this thread to save having two similar threads. Tommo

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-27207706 An officer has stood trial for discharging his Taser at a detainee during a strip search during which it eas claimed that the officer was assaulted by the detainee with his underpants. The jury took an hour to acquit him. An interesting comment from some head shed which smacks a little of sour grapes! The inevitable IPCC shudder squad will be picking over this. The lad has had to grip the rail and he must have had a difficult 18 months. Reminded me of the following observation: Police Officer Test QUESTION: You're on duty by yourself ------(don't ask why, you just are, and your Sergeant hates you) walking on a dese…

Who is surprised at that, it was poorly thought out right from the start, and it is the responsibility of the Home Office to get it right at the start. We still do not know who a Chief Constable can appeal to if a PCC sacks him. Very poor legislation with regard to PCC's, by a totally incompetent Home Office, and it's leader, Ms May, and that buffoon, Police Minister, Herbert. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2185461/Police-commissioner-candidate-forced-stand-fined-5-te…
