PC seeks £200,000 libel damages from MP Mitchell Andrew Mitchell is also suing the Sun newspaper for libel The police officer at the centre of the "plebgate" row is seeking damages from former Chief Whip Andrew Mitchell of up to £200,000, court papers show. PC Toby Rowland is suing Mr Mitchell for suggesting the officer was not telling the truth about the dispute at the gates of Downing Street in 2012. Mr Mitchell was accused of swearing at police and calling them plebs - allegations he has denied. The Conservative MP resigned as chief whip in the wake of the controversy. In documents submitted to the High Court, lawyers for PC Rowland justify the claim on the g…

So it wasn't an entirely unprovoked attack (one of the officers shouted over at the four males) and the five officers were off-duty when beaten. I still think that a term of imprisonment should have been given though.

I've seen in some newspapers that it is to be announced that she died of a heroin overdose. I haven't seen any mention as to whether or not it was accidental or intentional, either way, she did not appear to have given much thought as to her families feelings, particularly as she would have known the effect that heroin had in the past on other people close to her.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2614602/Cover-claims-Blair-minister-suspected-abusing-children-home-run-paedophile.html The more I read about the Bliar years, the more I despair that Britain has rapidly declined in terms of decency and honesty. I am a firm believer in the "no smoke without fire" approach to these things and, frankly, the time has come to have Bliar and his cronies subjected to a thorough investigation. My only worry is - who the hell is sufficiently unaffected by political interference to be able to undertake such an inquiry? If there is a smidgen of truth in the above article, it goes to prove that Bliar's lack of morals encompassed much …

A female teacher has been stabbed to death in front of other pupils inside a school in Leeds. The 61-year-old victim, who the BBC understands was Spanish teacher Anne Maguire, was taken to hospital but later pronounced dead. A 15-year-old pupil was detained by teaching staff and later arrested. Police said there was "no ongoing risk to pupils or staff". Downing Street said the prime minister's thoughts were with the victim's family. Two pupils at the scene told the BBC that children were seen screaming and running out a classroom following the attack. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-27193638
