Hi I have been to assessment centre and then completed the application to become a sc for south Yorkshire police, my application was submitted on 28th march (bank holiday week) I was just wondering how long it was before everyone else heard if they were successful or not? Thankyou in advance Danielle

I am just wondering at what point do you get to put your preferred district? What is also the rules on working where you live? I live in Barnsley and ideally i would like to be posted close to home! Are you allowed to work where you live? Cheers guys

Evening all I am currently undergoing vetting checks to become an SC :new_shades: (touchwood nothing goes wrong) Quick question: I live near Ecclesfield police station, I won't mind working from their BUT I know its not a good idea to work so close to home as load people would know me in the area :new_no: anyone got any suggestions on what area/SNT is best to work in as a SC in Sheffield ? :new_sweat: thanks all :new_wave:

Hi, I received a phone call from SYP today saying that I need to attend a medical with the OHU and an email confirmation. Originally I assumed SYP only had a Medcial questionnaire and eyesight form, which was filled out by my GP and optometrist, everything was within parameters, except for my BMI which was quite high and I made extra comments regarding my current excercise/weight loss efforts on the form. Has everyone got to attend a medical now or is it just certain cases? According to the email it involves all the tests not just a "let's sit down and discuss your weight" meeting. It is abit confusing seen as it will involve an eyesight test, which was already conduct…

Just a quick hello to everyone on the SYP forum. I am transferring as a regular PC from West Midlands to work on response on Sheffield West Sector, starting 25th February. I look forward to working with some of you in future. PS - Is a shame as we don't appear to get a "proper" attestation but am very much looking forward to things.

Have just had the email from HR to tell me I have passed the assessment centre. Can't quite believe it as I only had the assessment last Saturday and we were told to expect to wait 3 weeks for the result. I have been sent all the vetting details and have been given a deadline of just over a week to get them submitted. All the medical forms are being sent by post. Keeping fingers crossed that I get through the rest of the checks! Best of luck to everyone else

Evening all How high do you reckon the bar is set for the paper application? I handed mine in today but now I'm thinking it isn't as good as I thought it was, especially the R&D CBQ. Maybe I'm being pessimistic I'm not sure. :new_thmbdn2: How did you guys find the paperapplication?

I was just driving home earlier on today on a duel carriageway and I briefly say 2 Volvos with blues and twos on going in to opposite direction. The cars were marked with police but were just white with a light bar, no battenburg or jam livery in sight. I've never seen them before and was just curious whether it was a new response car.
