There seems to be lots of question flying about about different things, so as a serving officer in SYP specials at Deputy District Officer rank and a Dutysheet champion (bit like a super user) I am very willing to try and answer any questions if you want PM me I will ring you back and as said try to answer what questions I can and if not I will try to point you in the right direction. Question can be about any thing (sc related only, I am not an agony aunt)... Rank. Kit. Roles. Working where and when. Process. Hours. Working with different units/teams. Even things you think to small or daft to put on the open forum. The offer is there should any newbie wants to take m…

PNB

Not long ago I was issued my PNB I've just been using it for training and I know ill be using it a lot on duty when Im on patrol ect but I've noticed something today that I feel I should put into mine. Are we allowed to put something in that we notice when off duty, any regulations for this? Or does it come under that as an officer your never technically off duty. I'm not saying Im going to go out and write up everything I see but if you notice something particularly intersting quite often it might be worth jotting down? I haven't seen anything I'm just keeping an open mind and asking questions

Basically I had my pre induction last night and I am just wondering if their is anything I could be reading as a bit of a head start during training or learning. I know once I start their will be a lot of revision its just at my day job their is a lot of sitting around at nights if things are a bit slow and it just all feels like seconds wasted. I just want to learn it all! lol

Greetings all, What is the situation regarding specials driving police vehicles in SYP. Is it a case of you have a licence you can drive A-B or do you have to pass a test for that? Is any training given in the modules or would we have to put our names down somewhere after training. Thanks in advance.

So, as we all know I failed my 'Pre-Employment Checks' with SYP in July for the criminal conviction I got from when I was 10. I was wanting to know if the internal recruitment process is a lot different, or will my chances be very low of ever becoming a regular Police Officer? Open to any comments.. EDIT: Forgot to add that I wrote in and had the decision overturned and I start training as a Special Constable tomorrow evening! I was just asking what the internal process was like :-)

Hello, I was just wondering if anyone else has received invitations to operations/events via dutysheet when in training? (actually I haven't even started yet, I have my pre-induction tonight) I'll take a stab that it's sent out to all specials in my chosen district and that I'll disregard it. I don't have dutysheet login details to check anyway or should I contact someone? Thanks.

New boots

Well the topic of boots keeps coming up. I wanted a pair of comfy waterproof boots that didn't cost the earth. Just got the magnum cobra 8.0. They are really comfy and supportive. But that isn't the best bit. They cost £84.99 in 'Go Outdoors' which is cheap enough. But when I price matched them to Amazon they knocked a further 10% off making them £62.91. Bargain.

Hi Guys, I was just wondering what my next step is, as im a little unsure. Ive just been to my medical and passed but I have no idea whats next or what im waiting on. All of the previous things ive always known what was coming next for example fill in application form, wait for reply, assesment centre, filled in vetting forms, wait for clearance, then waiting for medical. Now ive had my medical and passed (YAY!) Ive realised I dont know whats next. So if any one be so kind and just tell me if I should be doing something now . Thank You in advance.

Saw Specialee's recent post commenting on our past social glories. Some of which I attended! If any of the old team see this contact me as it's about time we showed Sheffield how to party! Of course you could be new too!

So, now that you have 'taken the plunge' and sent in the application or recently been attested, what are your future ambitions within SYP? Do you see it as a step towards joining the regulars? Do you want to stay in the specials for 3 years or more? Where do you see yourself in 5 years time? (I wish you all well for the future!)
