This is a question for those who have been through the South Yorkshire Special Constable Application process and are currently a SP/PC. My application has passed the initial paper sift and I have been invited to attend the assessment centre 3rd November 2012. I'd like to know a little more information about what happens during the assessment and what happens from thereafter. If successful at the assessment centre, medication and fitness, how long is the average time before you're in uniform and starting to train? CR.

Hi All Just signed up for the forum today as I received the news yesterday my application was successful and Ive been invited to the centre next weekend for the assessment. I was just curious as to what people have worn to these? I was thinking maybe smart casual? ... or from anyones past experience is shirt and tie etc ... more suitable? Looking forward to the day now and hopefully it will be another step closer to the end goal Cheers all! Sorry about that, theres a thread below that has got pretty much everything I needed to know in it! MODs can delete this if possible Thanks

I see we all have to complete an annual fitness test from Sep 12. All for this test to remain on active duty. What's your thoughts?

Hello, I am new to the forum, I attended a South Yorkshire Police specials presentation evening over a month ago and picked up a paper application form which had to be returned by the 6th September. I filled it in, triple checked everything, enclosed the required documentation and posted it on the 21st of August, I would like to know when I should expect a response and in what format? Many Thanks

New South Yorkshire police recruits get ready for their training Published on Wednesday 11 April 2012 10:32 THE first of 110 new officers to join South Yorkshire Police will begin their training next week. Police chiefs have agreed to fill 110 officer posts which were due to have been lost over the next few years through retirement. The initial plan had been to cut the posts to reduce costs, with police chiefs needing to make savings of £40 million through Government funding cuts. But the county’s Police Authority, which oversees the way South Yorkshire Police is run and funded, has agreed to maintain frontline numbers by putting up the police element of householders…

Hi all, I'm just trying to work out an average application process time for SYP and what everyones experience was when applying. If you could, in as much detail as possible, tell me your story from sending the application, getting the first point of contact back and all the other bits and bobs, I will be very thankful! All the best
