Is anyone a special in SYP who has driven a marked patrol car on blues? In what circumstance?

Hi Just curious as to what NPG is. I've seen a few posts saying that Specials will be primarily based with Safer Neighbourhood Teams or work with NPG teams. Can anyone shed any light on what the NPG is and what it does, or is it some sort of development of the SNT? I'm guessing maybe it stands for something like Neighbourhood Policing Group. If so, then what is the difference to the SNT? Thanks

some joyriders keep coming round where i live and they came onto my road and deliberatly killed my cat i am so angry wish i could do something she was only 8 months old and the thing is it could have been a young child they race up and down here like idiots and keep going through the bus gate her name was fliss........

Hi all Is there any one else who will be on the October intake for SYP as a specials constable I only know of one other. Mr P how are you btw geting ready for your holiday no doubt :winking:

I was reading through an old thread (2008 - 2009) on here and saw that someone mentioned that SYP were using the Camlock Baton? I thought SYP officers were issued a bog-standard Monadnock Friction lock..? Anyone shed any light on this? Thanks, Dan

Hi, I'm currently in training for the Specials and hear we can register our interest for getting into traffic. Would I be able to register my interest while still in training? It's an area I would love to get into!!! If its not too early and someone has the contact details I can contact can you let me know please? I'll not be able to access an internal system for roles available for another week yet

Me again Does anyone know what T/SP stands for as a job title. I can guess SP refers to Special but can only guess what T means. Thanks in advance, Phil Oh, and DDO too

just want to say good luck to the guys and gals doin their training for syp which started last sunday 10th june i was down myself but im on holiday in august which means missing 3 sessions so im down for 14th october ,,GOOD LUCK EVERYONE ....,,,regards from ian

Hi peeps, I've been lurking here for some time, but decided to sign up! Back in December time I put myself forward as interested in Specials. I got a letter back from SYP inviting me to a presentation evening next week, however I recieved a call today saying this was cancelled and all SC recruitment was on hold for the forseeable. Does anyone know what's going on? It seems a bit odd to get so far down the line of organising a presentation evening and then pulling it??

Hi, Im wondering if anyone can clarify someonething for me... Ive asked HR and OHU and no one seems to give a straight answer.. On the medical forms it asks about sickness.... does anyone know if there is a criteria or whether it is based on individual circumstance?.. I already work for the force as a civilan and was told that for a "paid" job there was, however as this is only voluntary they do look at sickness but mark it on individual merits??... Has anyone been here before? Cheers :new_doh2:

Hey all, Just noticed that SYP is advertising PCSO vacancies! What's brought all this on? I would never of imagined they were recruiting! I am thinking of applying in all honesty. I have made a previous application for the specials for another local force but unfortunately didn't get past the interview stage. After a long hard think, I think im going to apply for the PCSO's for SYP. Anyone else got any thoughts & opinions on the matter? :lol: Cheers Dale

Hey Guys I was just wondering if police staff get issued with ID cards and badges if they work with SYP? i am applying to become PCSO and i am unsure if they issue wallets and badges in south Yorkshire Thanks p.s if anyone got picture please share it :new_wave:

Its been a long time since we had an informal chat on here, To start I'd just like to add that back in the early days we used to have nights out and travel all over to different forces for nights out. Some of us have left the service, some have just vanished into thin air, I know of a couple of SC's who's still around who where such good fun almost a decade ago, both of em are full time now but I wonder if there still happy and up for a night on the town? {you know who you are ha ha}
