South Yorkshire Police

I past my assessment, just got my email! A couple of questions:- On the vetting it asks for 6 nominated referee's, does anyone know if these can be Police officers? I know I couldn't use officers on the original application but there is no mention on this section to say I cant. Does anyone had any idea of time scales for South Yorkshire from this point to Starting training? I realise this is subject to different factors was just wondering of other peoples experiences. Hi there! Well after a VERY lengthy process I am due to start the training next week (induction on 12th and proper start on the 16th). I cannot wait to get stuck in and was wondering if anybody else is starting next week? Or if anybody has any advice on what to expect of the training?? Thanks ? xx

Hi Just a quick question I have applied to SYP as a regular PC passed the AC and now have a force inteview. Keep getting mixed feedback on what to expect. Pretty sure it is further questions on the core competencies with senior Police Officer and another. I do believe they may also ask why I want to join and how I think it might affect my personal life. Have anyone anything else they might want to share either post or PM. Thank you in advance.

Hi everyone, I have passed my vetting and I went for my drugs and bio metric testing last week. HR said I should be looking at August start for my training, but does anyone know the actual date in August please as I'm away on holiday end of July till first week in August. Thanks!

For all that attended the recent SEARCH Assessment, you should be receiving your results via post today or by Wednesday the latest. Results were in Friday morning and all have been sent out via letter. Good luck!

Extra police officers set to be recruited in South Yorkshire editorial i Police chiefs are to recruit an extra 50 police officers over the next 12 months. South Yorkshire’s Police and Crime Commissioner Shaun Wright made the announcement after revealing residents are to pay a few more pence to the police each week in their new council tax payments. The increase works out at four pence a week for Band A homes. In setting the police budget for the next year, Commissioner Wright announced £5 million is to be spent on public protection policing, which will involve the creation of 102 new posts. He said the force overtime bill will be reduced to free up extra cash. …

Hello all. Sorry if this is slightly off your usual topic. I am currently looking at buying an ex SYP Defender 110 with the registration YY04 LCM. I found a picture online of what it used to look like: This is what it looks like now: Basically I'm trying to find out why it was brought out of service, if the force would have removed all the gear and subsequently filled in all the holes and re-sprayed it, and if the vehicle had any major issues whilst in service. Any information would be greatly appreciated, or if you can put me in touch with anyone that would be great too. All the best!

Just wondered what the usual duties are immediately after training.. For example is it on events or patrol in a police vehicle with a regular? Many thanks!

Hello, I have a new job which means I will be relocating to the Emley Moor surrounding area, however I won't be able to commute the 110 miles down the M1 to the Midlands to perform a duty! Which means I'm considering a transfer or taking my Specials pension pot ;-) and retiring.
