Morning all Quick question, i've applied to be SC in SYP.. In the Written part of the interview for many grammar and spelling mistakes can be made, I believe I have read somewhere it's like 10 total is this correct?? Z

So, in light of recent events, particularly the Hillsborough verdict last week, the suspension of the Chief Constable due to lack of public confidence, the potential lawsuits that will follow from the Hillsborough families, along with other issues such as the Rotherham Child abuse scandal, SYP has been in the media recently for all the wrong reasons. There have been calls for the force to be dissolved / merged and there have been calls for a whole new management team, which appears as though it's going to happen anyway with planned retirements at high level anyway, reports some newspapers. Hello all again Just found out I passed my final interview!!! I have to do my fitness test, bio metric vetting, substance misuse and my medical oh and my references ! =) Just thought I'd keep everyone up to date! I'm so so happy. Training is 14 weeks, I thought it was 17 but maybe because I'm a special it only needs to be 14?

Specials are to no longer have the crown on their epaulettes in South Yorkshire to save that extra few pence. now i see the logic in this but i personally have 2 views and im sure regulars will certainly have views. Hi all, I'm currently doing a Uniformed Public Services course (first year) at College, and I'm looking to apply to the Specials come September/October. South Yorkshire Police are holding several presentations this year, but the 2 I'm looking at are the 12th of September and the 10th of October. My question is this: I turn 18 on the 21st of September. Is it advisable for me to go to the presentation on the 12th when I'm still 17 (as I've been told this is allowed) and submit my application on the 21st, or should I wait until for the presentation on the 10th of October (the first one after I turn 18). Hi, a recent article in the Yorkshire post indicated humberside and south Yorkshire police would recruit regular officers during 2016 in light of the budget cuts being stopped with regards to south Yorkshire specifically has anybody heard anything?

So, SYP are open to regular transfers at the moment. Have any regs transferred into SYP in recent years? If so, I'd love to hear from you and find out a bit about your experience and whether you think it was a good decision or not. It might help me make my mind up!

Hi, has anyone applied as a SC recently? I had my bio metric/drug test this week and have my medical on 15th April. Gail from HR said I was pretty much done now after the tests this week. Just curious to know if anyone else is at the same/similar stage?
